Anything up to 12 miles for us.

Depends on how much kit we’re carrying and how steep the inclines though obviously.

I could walk for an hour and I do it regular. That’s walking distance to me, further than that and it would be more of a planned hike.

If it's to work, not very, to the shops about 10 minutes, to the beach 20 minutes.

If it's up a mountain or a hill, then I've got all day.

About 20 or less. Then you probably want to use some transport.

If on holiday I don't mind walking for hours in the sun.

Really depends- I've done over 100 miles before but wouldn't consider that walking distance.

When planning a walk I think of lots of things, the terrain, the weather, the total ascent. Something like the Snowdon horseshoe for example is only a relatively short walk - under 7 miles but most hill walkers would consider it a big day out.

One of these days KC² I'm going to let you run your wheelchair over my cock. I won't like it and I'll be in excruciating pain. But my altruistic tendancies will afford you some scintillating pleasure.

The current concept for urban development is the 20 minute neighbourhood.

Based on how far you can walk @ 3 miles per hour, and access to all of the necessary facilities.

But that does not include swingers or fwbs

What about people who can't walk at 3 miles per hour? How is urban design helping them?

Generally there's supposed to be increased public transport and infrastructure....

But seeing is believing

Hmmmmm. You mean the sort where someone has to put a ramp out so you can wheel on (they can choose not to/decline) and there's only one, maybe two, wheelchair spaces?! Forgive my skepticism

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

There's a nice circuit I often walk from my house, along a riverbank before taking farm tracks and bridleways past fields and woods then back home. It's about 3.5 miles and takes about 90 minutes.

Furthest I've walked in one session was when I used to do long distance walking, and I did the Lyke Wake Walk in North Yorkshire. That's 42 miles and took me 13.5 hours.

Actually walking, about 5-6 miles max. Any longer than that I'm going to start sweating & I don't want to turn up somewhere dripping like a marathon runner.

People saying they're walking 12 miles to a meet have never walked 12 miles before lol

A walk to the pub takes 10 mins, the walk back home can take an hour, the difference is staggering.

Sometimes when I ask someone how far is the nearest shop, they say 5 minutes walk and in some cases it's more like half hour.

Anyone living where my Grandad lived, who did not have a car, would have needed to walk about 4 miles to the nearest shop, including a decent steep hill on the way back. He and my Grandma used to do it in the old days, when they were snowed in and couldn't get the car out. They took backpacks and stuff doesn't defrost that quickly, unless it's really, really hot outside.

I wouldn't walk for an hour to the shops if I was buying heavy stuff. I do regularly walk 49 mins each way for small shopping and an hour each way to meet friends. It's what our bodies (barring disability) are designed to do.

I have found that how far I walk in an hour has reduced though as I don't walk as fast as I used to
