I think in this context we are referring to Hedonistic via Sexual orgasmic pleasure.

"Simple question, simple answer , yes or no ?"

It’s not a simple answer though is it?

A hedonist is someone who devotes their life to the pursuit of pleasure (not just sexual).

Once you have a family/job/bills that’s no longer entirely possible.

In no way does me wanting a great shag/great food and wine etc ever come before my parental responsibilities, for instance.

However - when it’s my time off - when I’m with a sexy fab friend and it’s just the two of us - then it’s hedonism all the way.

As adults we become far more complex creatures and there’s no easy answer.

I do think I’m lucky enough to derive much more pleasure from life in general than most people I know though - and definitely my love of sex, good food, the pleasure of great company is very highly tuned.

So in conclusion - yes and no!

I was just thinking that about you ! Your hedonism is very conscious and aware like pleasures from yoga wild swimming etc , but it’s still hedonism tot spirituality or meaning for its own sake , it’s about the pleasure sensors still

There’s people I did full moon parties and retreats with in Thailand in the 90s that either chose not to have kids or came back had kids and carried on being hedonists , still popping pills and doing festivals in their 40s and 50s just aweful parents ! There’s always a choice

Immensely so. I have always been aware of my pleasure sensors as you know, and combining the two has been a adult life long pursuit, my spirituality and meanings are what balances out my hedonist streak

I agree. As I said - I love life in general - which makes me very fortunate. On most days my favourite part of the day is me and the dog, on our own or with my youngest, walking through the woods whilst he dives like a lunatic in the river. I wouldn’t say any of the things I love doing impact negatively on my life. Whilst fab can be destructive for some - for me it’s about close friendships along with the mind blowing sex.

The pursuit of pleasure doesn’t have to have a detrimental effect on yourself or others.

Absolutely. I’ve come across dreadful parents on here too who think shagging a stranger is more important than their children’s welfare. You only have to have unprotected sex to become a parent - therefore there’ll always be crap parents out there!
