Looking on here some are successful, other never seem to get meets. What is the secret to that first message?

There isn't a secret, just try and make your message stand out from the usual "hi, how are you" and try and relate it to something that has been mentioned in the person's profile.

If you are solely relying on messages on this site to get to meet people, you may struggle, as it's not easy, but good luck.

Just be yourself. Don't do sex chat in your first messages and do have pictures available, but not your nob. Oh, take part in the forums and be respectful

Agree...the solution is definitely not besot over women who are not interested. So do try creating new avenues.

I to be honest block women on fab who delete my messages, they clearly can't be bothered to reply and blocking them is like so that I don't write to them again and waste each others time.

Gosh if that makes sense.

Well if I told you the secret, it wouldn't be a secret...

I hear an unsolicited dick pic or two followed up with a simple one line message like "u free wanna fuck now" typically does the trick. An extra special touch is to kick right off and berate the person you're messaging when they either don't respond or delete your message. Shows that you had serious intent. Women love that.
