When someone really annoys you what do you do?

The Wife has various colleagues at work who don't like her. It's obvious from their behaviour towards her. She comes home Spitting tar and feathers because of it.

I tell her to breathe, and imagine them constipated on the toilet and then always act friendly, just smile and wave. Really wind them up properly.. what do you do?

I tend to wind them up more, why not get a bit of enjoyment out of it.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is say nothing at all. You don't need to justify who you are to people who have already decided their version of you. Let it go and focus on the people who truely matter.

If I worked in that kind of environment, I couldn’t be arsed with getting involved in that kinda nonsense. I’d get my head down, so the work, ignore the cretinous attitudes of others. Be the bigger person, by not giving them the audience for their garbage.

Deep breath and don’t respond. It’ll wind them up a lot more.

At work, I'd go for being overly nice and smiley with them...it will wind them up, but there's no chance of ending up in a disciplinary

I just try to limit contact. If I have to talk to them, then it's about work related stuff only and if it veers off, I just give short answers in an attempt to kill the conversation. Harsh? Maybe

Ignore but if doesn’t end go to HR and make a formal complaint of bullying.

In this market it’s a good time to make a change if your employer doesn’t support you!

I just walk away. Usually my face will tell them I’m getting annoyed

I do this with the bunch of two faced cunts I have to deal with.

I don't even attempt to smile at them anymore.

I was told recently that my constantly angry face gives it away.

I come home, have a good moan for 20 minutes then not give them another thought.

If it's work related then I keep answers short and sweet for professional reasons but in general day to day life, I just ignore. They aren't worth my time or energy x

That's what I told her. Apparently she tried it, and it worked. A manager commented on the wife being nice to a colleague and even got a good comment card with a bunch of flowers

You can imagine how that went down

"Tell them"

Spike their drink with industrial strength laxatives, then tell them and add that they’re going to be crapping for a week to it

The calm, even, logical approach is infuriating to Muppets, and (if there's a genuine misunderstanding), gives a chance of sorting it out on the spot.

I wouldn't say anything. My facial expressions give away how I'm feeling 99.9% of the time.

I just ignore it and don't let them take up any space in my mind. They aren't worth it.

If it gets to the point it's actually harassment or bullying, then report it to HR as you probably aren't the only person on the end of it.

At work: I'll ignore such behaviour unless it effects the business mission; in which case, I'd find the best way to address it through official routes and strategies. After all, we're at work to ensure that the business succeeds.

Amongst close family: I'll try to found out why people are treating me in such a way and then discuss what can be done to address the situation.

Another other situation: I'd just let it go.

If I was your wife I'd be looking for a new place of work. I wouldn't perform well in that kind of environment. I like harmony not conflict.

Avoid them, or kill them with kindness. I'm sorry your wife is in this situation, OP.

I usually sack them if it's a work thing, if outside that I find having large fields and access to a JCB is very helpful
