Check your calculated direct debit payments.

Last full bill will have avarage usage for last 12 months, can work out what you should be paying from that.

They asked me for over £100 more per month than I would have spent.

Your bill should have gone up by about 40% max if you are on the price cap rates.

Mine is still fixed for a few more months so it's going to be a massive shock in October

My electricity bill is almost treble too. It's a disgrace that they are allowed to do this especially when times are still a bit rough after the lockdown etc. Everyone should start a protest against it. All the money they spent on brexit and the pandemic farce is a lot to do with it .some people i know are struggling to keep their houses warm .total disgrace m8

In my happy place

If you are on standard variable rate and not locked and your account is not in arrears, it should only be a 54% increase.

So call and ask their reason and dont accept the increase.

Spoke to Scottish Power today, was on fixed. Going to varible 150 to 280 they said.

Or a years fixed at 380 and miss the October rise they said.

Stick at standard variable I said.

I only was 20 pounds a week now last 2 weeks i was 35 - 40. They are getting away with murder. It's actually quite a shame for the people who can't afford it. Just as well summer is not far away. It's going to be horrendous in winter.

Mine was £112 for both.

It’s going up to £185 for both.

£73 increase.

Although my electric is already in credit by £120.

Treble! Ha! My one was over 100 times what it should have been. I was charged almost £4000 for December to March, of which I paid a bill in December for £100. I knew it was wrong because the house is empty. Its been empty since I got it. The electricity company was trying it on to see if they could get me to pay, cause when I called up and told them how silly it was my new bill for the same time frame was £30.

It seems to be the increase of standing charge that's screwing us over. Doesn't seem to be much change in cost of electricity or gas according to smart meter
