Reading

Do you watch your favourite film or TV series over and over? Do you have a favourite book you reread regularly?

I read the great Gatsby annually and I watch love actually every Christmas. I have seen friends all the way through about five times. Right now I'm re reading Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. Yet I have loads of new books to read. Is it a comfort thing?

There’s many TV and movie that I can watch repeatedly.

I use them as comforting noise when I’m engrossed in hobby work, but don’t want silence.

Yes i watched a new hope and empire after school every night for around 3 years

Watch an avengers movie or 2 every weekend

But i tend to only rarely watch new films unless its a biggy

Yeah especially if something really enjoy like

Loads films enjoy like Star Wars, marvel films, transformers etc and some tv shows but not as many of them

I wasn’t, but I am now.

Sometimes I need the comfort and familiarity of something I’ve seen before.

I’ve watched outlander a lot (there may be other reasons than those detailed above too)

TV - The big bang theory, Peaky blinders, Call the midwife, Detectorists, Early doors, Royle family.

Films: not so much.

Books: The Dresden files - particularly 7 Dead beat, 8 Proven guilty, 11 Turn coat and 15 Skin game; Felix Castor series, Dirk Gently's hollistic detective agency and The long, dark, teatime of the soul and all the Hitchhikers by Douglas Adams.

I think I’ve mentioned a million times OP but I also reread and rewatch Gatsby often.

I rewatch movies more than reread books. But I have reread Open Water which I bought recently a few times already and a poetry book- Poor by Caleb Femi. I’ve reread that a few times. I think the reason I return to them is because the books I buy aren’t as beautifully written or diverse as those ones.

Films, other than Gatsby I rewatch The Parent trap, Moonlight and When Harry Met Sally. But this doesn’t impact me watching new films at all. I love films.

Nope.

I never reread a book or re-watch a TV series or film (the exception is when reading, watching something with the kids as I like spending time with them).

I have noticed I take in a lot of details (might explain why I'm such a slow reader), so remember everything really well, so on a repeat they offer nothing new or exciting in terms of story lines or surprises, but instead frustrate me in the same way as if someone gives spoilers to something I'm experiencing for the first time.

I may have an unhealthy relationship with Jurassic Park (original) - think it’s down to being the first film I saw at the cinema and it blew my mind!

It’s aged beautifully & I watch it a couple of times a month.

But seriously, I will often rewatch things because it’s easier. It doesn’t mean I don’t watch new shows though

Not really regularly, I like to find new TV shows and films to watch but if I'm stuck, I might go back and re-watch a favourite film or TV show.

I know people dump on Friends for example but it's such an easily re-watchable show to have on in the background

Guilty as charged.

I have read the Discworld series books, god knows how many times. Watched TT closer to the edge hundreds of times, I still have the hairs on the back of my neck on edge, at the top of bray hill scene.

As for tv series I can't stop watching Brooklyn nine-nine, Breaking bad, Better call saul and Sex Education.
