Nevermind babe, it's just a term of affection.

little house on the praire

Think its to do with the area you live in sometimes like if you was scottish you would be called a hen, around her it would be "me duck". I call everyone darling or sweetypie

I don't use babe except on my ex, she used the word all the time. I like darlin or sweetheart. Or around here we use my love as a joke!

Twice, yesterday, I was called "Mate", by a couple of sales assistants.

I hate being called babe, to me it's a term of endearment for couples and the 20's age group and not to be used on here especially in a first message if its the norm from where they live, fine just about but that's it

Even worse is those who can't even be bothered to write 'babe' and use bbe instead!! Needless to say those messages end up in the dimwits pile.

With very good friends I use dear - not to be patronising but as a term of affection.

It's not a word I use often, mainly because my phone has a mind of its own and autocorrects it to Bob!
