A Home Among The Woodland Creatures

We all know how you ladies love a man in good shoes, so I'm in the market for a new pair of best pulling shoes

Ideally want something that combines smart, casual and a tad quirky - just like me

My go-tos for that used to be Camper, but they've nearly doubled in price (while shipping production to China - go figure) - so I'm not sure if they're still worth it.

Art shoes are another fave (I love the Skylines) - but they're leaning a little to the casual side.

Jeffery West shoes are to freakin die for - beautifully made - totally subversive - but a bit on the smart side and even more expensive than Camper.

Any suggestions?

(and yes - I've just realised how gay I'm sounding right now

I've somehow lost a pair of black Chelsea boots that went with everything, had them resoled for years and now can't find them. Might be an option?

Never been sold on TH - like a lot of the big designer brands they just outsource their production to China and you end up with pretty regular quality wares at designer prices.

Had some TH jeans a while back and they were really just regular jeans - nothing special - if I spend that sort of money on a set of strides I want something a bit special - like raw selvedge or something like that

To be fair, right now I'm slobbing around in a shitty old pair of trainers with holes in that I bought from Sports Direct for £20

I do like to have something for Best though that's going to last years and years

If you like Jeffrey west, have you looked at cheaney? Good quality at a relatively reasonable price. Then you’ve got trickers, Crockett and Jones, John lobb, church’s etc

Cheaney so sometimes have a bit in there outlet on their website too.

Then you could always do a day trip to Northampton and see what’s in their factory stores. Jeffrey west have one too!

Hubby brought a gorgeous pair of black shoes from psych (probably spelt that wrong) for our wedding 4 years ago. Paid £100 in the sale for them, but they are so smart. Maybe have a look there? X

I like Cheaney - bit more on the classic / formal (not to mention pricey) side to what I'm looking for at the moment.

As a side note I once got blatantly hit on by a girl who worked in their Covent Garden shop and I was such a feckin dunce that I was totally oblivious to it until about half an hour later - by which time the shop had shut

Got some non-light up heelies here. Cast offs but could squeeze your feet in if you want to risk spinal damage (from falling)

Would recommend Velasca, or El Ganso used to have some really nice smart/casual shoes (their shops in London have closed now, but not sure if they're still online).

Neither as quirky as Camper though, if that's your thing.

Jeffrey West shoes are awesome

It's the leather that Jeffrey West rejects that makes Jeffrey West the Best...

Sounds like a good reason to go back again!

Lots of the Northampton shoe manufacturers are all on jermyn street. It’s a good place to loose a couple of hours. Then there’s others like George cleverly on old Bond Street. But it’s getting pricy by then!

Barker might be good for some of there more modern styles too while also being more budget friendly. Maybe loake too.

I love men in 8 hole ox blood Doc Martens. Something about them I find so sexy especially with vintage jeans, a green flying jacket with a grey hoody underneath. Also cowboy boots but it's not a look for everyone.

I have zero idea about mens shoes.

Not a fan of the really pointy toed ones. Can't stand deck shoes.

As long as they look pretty new/well taken care of it's all good.

Not sure why caring about your shoes is gay sounding but anyway

Pulling shoes are smart shoes, do Jeff wests are good but a decent pair of loafers, brogues etc with decent dark jeans than fit well nails it.
