"I need both time alone and time with others. Too much alone time and I get drowned by the noise of my head. Too much time with others and I get my energy sucked out so i need balance. Best way is to find things that I enjoy doing, particularly playing music and being creative. I’m crap at meditation, I fidget so much it’s unreal, but I tried " I didn't realise how much I enjoyed others' company until the lockdowns. Think the trick is just finding the right people to be around. The ones who don't suck the life out of you. I'm getting better at the meditation/mindfulness stuff. Recommend the boom Ten to Zen. Doesn't need to feel all "new age" and out there. You can do it in the shower!

"Time alone. Although that also leads to over thinking, which doesn't help. I'm not a talker. I bottle it up, place things in boxes on a shelf in the corner of my mind and bimble along aimlessly. I'm pragmatic. I've done well so far rationalising what's happened in my life and around me." That's still a way of coping though until you find a better way. We can all be a wee bit too hard on ourselves sometimes.

But I think I’m also one person who really needs SOME time alone. But i enjoy company loads too And I do it mainly with my yoga teacher and it’s very simple , mostly counting and focusing on certain things. It isn’t easy tho Especially if your mind is a cluster fuck that thinks 50 different things at once

"First step is to recognise that I'm not OK. And allow myself to not be. Fuck knows I'm not ok most of the time to be honest. Second is to try and do something, just to try and unfreeze my brain. Maybe going to the gym or a project or something. Third is to be kind to myself, not let negative self talk get too much. Just keep shuffling through and maybe tomorrow it will be better. It never is." A cliché, I know, but you get another day to try at least.

"Can you be more specific on mental health.? Have a friend who deals with mental health issues and the majority of the people she sees are experiencing what is know as simply life situations. So please be more specific. I take life situations as they come, death in the family equals sadness and not depression as often bounded around, family party equals happiness. With whole lot of situations in between. " By mental health, I mean how people look after their mind and emotions, in the sane way that someone can post on here asking about how to improve their physical health. Mental health automatically conjures up negative connotations but every has it. In the same way we all have physical health. I get what you're saying about "simple life situations". But if people are now looking for professional help for situations and life events that were once deemed normal or taken for granted, then something in our lives and society must have changed quite significantly. You're lucky to have the outlook you have and I genuinely mean that.

I get what your saying and I'm not thinking negative of it , I asked a guy in the work just yesterday if he was OK as he looked tired and fucked right at the start of the shift and he said he was fine, clearly he wasn't fine and I get it he's not alone but I also think it's a get out of jail card for GPS to palm off natural life feelings and experiences as a mental health issue and pass it onto hard stretched services that are struggling to deal with the more serious cases. I googled what is classed as a possible mental health issue and I don't meet the normal standard definition as shown on quote a few different websites and I wonder how many above on this thread are the same. Its like a comfort blanket now for GPS , oh it's depression I'll schedule you a therapist. Just my opinion.
