Truly simple things that made you happy

Clues in the title. I remember shivering on a beach in Wales after a swim, aged about 8.

We had a driftwood bonfire and my cousins were cooking sausages for me. Soon warmed up in front of fire. My Dad was still miles out to sea swimming like a dolphin,or so it looked to me. Round smooth pebbles on my toes. Feel free to make a joke but make sure it's funny. Or just be honest. Peace x

Camping with my son down by the river, keeping the cold things cold by suspending them in the water. Teaching him how to make and cook on a small campfire and sleeping out under the stars showing him the constellations.

Luton

First coffee of the morning in the throes of spring and summer.

Pull open the curtains, see the sun beaming through the trees, rays of light poking through leaf and blossom.

The birdsong a harmonious ensemble of our regular and newly visiting feathered friends, travelled from distant lands.

The thought that today is going to be a good day.

Then people happen

A world all of his own

About a month ago I'd popped over to my nieces place to have a look at a DIY job for her. After a while we were sitting on the sofa chatting and her son, who's coming up to 6 and is non verbal autistic, was sat beside me. As some who have autistic kids/contact with autistic kids will know, they're very much not into physical contact. But as I'd been in his safe place for a while and he was comfortable, he was letting me tickle his tummy (I wasn't really tickling him, just making out to) and had my hand flat on his tummy. At one point he took a hold of my thumb and pinkie in each of his hands and was just very gently squeezing them.

To have that much physical interaction with him was utterly joyous and very privileged for me.

I’d sooner be at work than at home, most of the time.

Chams or Socials

Sundays when we’re all sat at the table for a relaxed roast dinner. Fighting over the last Yorkshire pudding or pigs in blankets. Catching up on our week & making stupid jokes. As the kids get older I know these times will become less frequent.
