Of the 2022 releases I've heard so far, my favourite is Return to the Void by Shape of Despair.

Jinjer are a brilliant band..

I nearly booked them on a UK tour a few years back, but their drummer at the time had a serious accident and they didn't come over.

Absolutely lovely people too ??

Tatiana is in my wank bank. Incredible singer. The duet she did with 12 foot ninja was amazing.

I also love a bit of In This Moment. Maria Brink is like the bastard love child of a Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson/Lady Gaga 3sum.

I remember connecting with a woman on a straight dating site who told me that she was into heavy metal. I replied by asking her if she owned a scrap yard, or did she go around the houses picking it up in a Ford Transit pick up. Needless to say that she was history before she even became news.

I personally don't think much of bands these days,I think every genre has been covered,I just can't see anything refreshing and different grabbing hold of you,not like sabbath, zep and purple in the early 70s,80s you had thrash, nwobh, then 90s we had grunge which although not metal, has elements of it,all brilliant, but now I feel there's nothing.

I mean greta van fleet sound amazing, but it's still not fresh and different....they've got the exact same sound as zep.

That's just my view.

Ajjatar, but they're not new, and today absence of body and their album plague god which is as unsettling as the first time I heard streetcleaner by godflesh

I saw the Hu in Bristol a couple of years ago and they rocked, but I loved the support band, Fire from the Gods

Crawick

Told my local shopkeeper about Alestorm and Wind Rose. After all, pirate metal and dwarf metal is now a thing. Also bought the newest Lawnmower Deth CD. Still in wrapper and on release it beat Iron Maiden's new album. Not bad for a band that spent 29 years between studio recordings.

Discovered The Hu by accident and got hooked, also their cover of Sad but True is probably one of the best covers out there

for the Gym work outs to try and lose some of my Podge...

Opeth, Meshuggah, Mastadon, Lamb of God, Jinjer, TesseracT and some Killswich engaged tend to be the most played.
