A previous post has made me think ….. painful process during Easter break I may add!!

When I have my breaks from here, I never do a goodbye , I literally just go. Usually something happens and I know it’s time to go - although I used to hide my profile, but I deleted it all last time. I was in the midst of a terrible hormone situation and I was completely drained.

I never explain, I just go …

So - do you appreciate a goodbye farewell post , does it not bother you or are you one who thinks ‘not another bloody farewell’

Doesn't really bother me either way. If people want to say goodbye I think it's a good way to get it done with a thread rather than messaging everyone they might want to say bye to, as that could take weeks.

If they don't want to say it, then that's cool too.

But don't leave without saying hye next time Floro.

I’m a person who always needs closure, so personally I would prefer to know someone’s thinking of leaving especially when they’re really active on the forums. Although I know many will likely disagree.

I imagine making one and then having to comment 175 times so it fills up and disappears before anybody else sees nobody commented.

I have noticed some do them for attention and then don’t even leave.

I’d just leave.

Mainly because I don’t care.

Ermmm... if it's someone who comes and goes, I just assume they'll be back soon and need that space. If I'm quite close to them and they leave all social apps, I do feel a bit meh and it's kind of awkward when they come back. Like our dynamic was just Fab based and that's how they view it.

So maybe a goodbye would be nice but at the same time, if they're just having a wobble and stay on Fab/come back within a couple of weeks I think sod that, not writing another farewell to them.

It can be nice to see people return but sometimes it's nice to see them leave - you know, when they're going for a good reason.

I understand the practicalities of the leaving thread but they do get on my tits… to me this is a place where people pop in and out and I don’t feel the need for the public announcements. I don’t delete my profile but I bugger off for months at a time. And I get moaned at for the lack of notice but often it’s unplanned, I just can’t be arsed when life gets hectic!

I think I presumed I was just ‘fab’ based and didn’t think for one moment I was considered a friend. If that makes sense?

Ah I wasn't directing that at you Floro! It wasn't one of those really transparent digs that are awkward to read. Being frank, we've fab known each other for a while and I know that sometimes you're going to go when you need to focus on you or whatever else. I couldn't ever begrudge someone that. Especially not you. Nor is it awkward between us.

It does make sense by the way. Defining friendships is a whole other thread though and seeing as you've only recently rejoined I won't bore your eyes out of your sockets with my ramblings. Too much.

I like it when people do a farewell post. I imagine it would be difficult to message everybody individually and so I see it as an opportunity for people to message the leaver if the wish to.

It worries me if I die and I not said goodbye! Not just here everywhere! I don't want people to think I'm rude or wondering whatever happened to candy floss? Lol! I used to work as cook at a little country school for 9 years! Cycled there and back every day and saw the same local villagers every day! So when I moved on I stopped that week to tell each of them I wouldn't b along anymore wanted to say bye x

When people delete their profile all their messages get deleted by the site.

So if you want to leave contact details, always make sure the person has read the message before you delete your profile.

I work for uk power network not to be funny but 10mins off want even show up the grid station at 10o clock wouldn’t even notice as most turn off to go to bed. The best time to do this would be 6pm as many just arrive home from work. This also need to be carried out for hour. At that point it then cost you more to get house back up and running then then loosing.

When I have a break I just bugger off but I don’t begrudge a leaving post from anyone. It just disappoints me when they get snarky replies. Such is Fab though.

Didn't say you are. It was a general observation.

Another tip for people who leave- you can still read the forums when not logged onto the site. So if you do a leaving thread just bookmark it and you can still read it.

I've no issue with people staring an airport thread and announcing their departure.....as long as they go!

Over the years I've seen so many posts that are purely attention seeking, looking for 'don't go', 'please stay' and 'how will we live without your amazing tits/arse/cock/whatever' responses rather than actually being farewell messages that it gets boring.

If the OP hasn't gone UNLOS within an hour of posting then you can bet they're sat watching the replies, rather than packing their virtual bags and shuffling off to mumsnet/bookface/myspace....

We aren’t fussed either way.

Everyone has so many reasons for not posting or having breaks and we aren’t that prominent in the forums to notice who’s around and who’s not.

The people who do the drawn out goodbyes are the best…like they are weighing up whether they are weighing up whether they are popular enough to stay

If they make you happy then do one or if you want to throw a grenade as you leave then do one

But I do appreciate a goodbye from others, it gives an opportunity for people that know them to give their best wishes.
