Taking the daughter this week for her birthday and taking her to a show in the west end

Quick question for anyone who knows London- so we are staying near to Covent Garden .

Was wondering what are the best sights to see without travelling massively far - with us being on our own I don’t fancy hopping on and of loads of tubes, wanted to stay relatively within walking distance ?( if that’s possible )

There’s a few markets like crafts and stuff, also museum of travel….. best thing just to have a walk around

Depends on the age of your daughter but Camden market is a great place to visit but alas it is a short tube journey away but the clothes and food stalls and vibe are top notch for a visit.

Enjoy your stay.

Get buses instead of tubes so you can still see some of the city. Most people go to London and just see the underground!

Princess Diana's park. Queensway tube station is right across the road so not far to walk.

Covent Garden is within easy walking access of the Strand, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, The Thames, then you can jump on Riverboat and go to the Tower of London

There is lots to see and do around there but also really walkable to many areas from Londondon Transport Mueseum to Trafalgar Square National Gallery. As suggested, just a walk around will give you plenty of exciting stops to fill your day. Enjoy

Oyster card or contactless.

I think the TFL website has a kids bus map with all the bus route numbers and interesting places marked on it. Top of a double decker bus and you can see loads.

Yes I was going to say! Sure there’s lots of museums nearby too isnt there? Definitely can think of portrait gallery? Or national gallery don’t remember. Maybe the Tate. Globe theatre. British museum. Somerset house is really nice. South bank centre. And if you don’t mind paying for things I think Royal Academy of Arts isn’t far and their Francis Bacon exhibition is gorgeous.

carnaby street libertys if you like shopping....a walk along the embankment south side...black friars to waterloo about 1.5 miles is lovely

London transport museum is in Covent Garden and well worth a visit. Also Covent Garden itself has lots of stalls for you to look round.

If you're near Covent Garden, there's loads on your doorstop so can easily avoid the tube if you want to.

Just walking around CG itself is fun: lots of street performers etc and good shopping. Head off the Piazza (which is great tho) and up to Seven Dials etc too.

But also only a short walk to the river, so definitely have a wander down to the South Bank/London Eye, and can also be at Houses of Parliament/Westminster Abbey in about 15mins on foot, if that's your thing, or Traf Sq for the galleries etc

We were down for a long weekend last year and found all the bigger main attractions are actually pretty close together, a small bus ride between them. We bought weekend tickets for the Big Red bus company from a deal site and jumped on and off them all weekend. They were very well priced and included a river boat cruise as well.

Covent gardens street theatre at the Plaza is always fun.

There are loads of shows in the area and you are never more than a stone's throw from another theatre.

Plenty of cafe's and pubs if that is your daughter's thing.

Camden is worth a trip to visit the market is always worth the journey.

The big sights of Westminster, Buck Palace, Trafalgar Square etc are a moderate journey away and more central though a day at one or more of the museums can be entertaining and enlightening.

Covent Garden is nice in the evening especially as the weather improves.

Have fun whatever you do.
