Verifications

Verifications are Reviews.

That's my view on this after taking a break from fab, having my adventures (learning a fair bit during that time) and coming back.

I now see verifications as reviews instead of just literally verifying that the person's pictures in the profile are genuinely the person or couple.

Reviews can be faked, and so can verifications.

So what's your take on this?

Discuss.

TitAdvisor. I’ve always used veris in that way - I like to give people my honest opinion - ‘Food was wonderful, banter acceptable, could have tidied up the footwear but that’s just a minor niggle. Tonguework needs more finesse but the stamina more than makes up for it. Overall, 4.5 out of 5 and would thoroughly recommend to other Fabsters.’

Oh, I would deduct more than half a point if the tongue work wasn't up to par.

"Thinking about it, has anyone ever actually seen a bad verification?"

Exactly, if anyone has a bad experience they won't display a bad verification. A bad verification would destroy a profile.

You'd just find someone deleting their account and starting up again from scratch until the person who placed the bad verification up places another one.

Then you can get malicious people who will put up a bad verification just because they want to (Joker, some people just like to see the world burn, etc)

I think verifications should still remain on your profile even when someone leaves the site. Because it adds credibility.

Then again, you could find people abusing the system to create second accounts, get their primary accounts verified then delete the second account and start all over.

It is totally weird when people go into graphic detail about the sex they have shared, just because he is amazing with you doesn't mean he will be with anyone else, that's how sex works luckily otherwise the same 10 people would be the only ones enjoying it.

I enjoy the fun verifications of Friends the most, they always make me smile but if I am wanting to meet someone I can just videocall them to check who they are.

We were always more interested in social veris than anything else. Couldn't care less about someone else's opinion of their sexual performance and acrobatics.

As long as they stated that they were who they claimed to be, didn't have a second head or six fingers and didn't arrive at the meet with a car boot full of bin bags, duck tape and a shovel - all was good.

When I first joined I found them useful. Not in a "details of the banging" thing, but "X number of people met this person and had nice things to say. They're probably not an axe murderer."

Of course they can be faked, of course they skew positive, but they're one data point among several to consider.

It seems to me that profiles on Fab have got a bit less snotty over the years. You used to see some very up-themselves profiles demanding verifications and listing all kinds of things with all kinds of complaints. It kind of put me off here at first. But to me profiles here seem a little more relaxed now? (I admit some profile types I don't look at as much as I used to).

I see them as a verification from someone else that shows a person is, more likely, to be who they say they are in their profile.

All the sex crap that some of them are filled with is a review of their performance.
