How many times a week do you workout?

Jump to newest

By *hagTonight OP   Man

From the land of haribos.

I like to workout and I go to the gym to workout 3 times a week doing a full body workout, well not the gym as I am training at home and my favourite exercise is the shoulder press, not just that I also do yoga and lots of cardio as well

0 times. The whole idea bores me, let alone the act of exercise. I'd rather just exercise portion control.

I aim for 6 days a week now.

Sometimes I miss a day or two but no less than 5.

I spent 18 months too injured to train so I’m playing catch up.

Once I’m where I need to be I’ll drop to 4 times a week probably.

5 or 6 days a week. I do Push, Pull, Legs but thinking of decreasing to about 4 days a week with more emphasis on cardio remain lean but not sure if that would affect muscle growth. My favourite exercises are squats and Romanian deadlifts

Sometimes I think of getting an indoor job, but I don’t think I’d enjoy that.

If you’re doing six days a week full body surely that doesn’t allow adequate recovery time for each muscle group? Don’t you end up over trained? I would..then again I’m an old git

Not if you split volume up properly.

For example someone might do chest day on a Monday and do 4-6 different chest exercises. I just split them up through out the week

Full body doesn’t always mean brutally kill your entire body.

Last nights session was

Squats

Over head press

Pull down

Chest flies

Leg extensions

Triceps

It used to be 6 but my gym moved and times had to change so am down to 3 minimum now to make sure I get to squat bench and deadlift.

There's a gym I can use at work so might start using that on days I can't get to my normal gym but it's not the same! Plus I hate working out on my own.

From June to December I work out 5/6 times a week. January to May I don't have the time due to exceptionally heavy work commitments. Problem is I loose my fitness and the weight goes back on when I'm not working out so I'm stuck in a vicious circle.

Traditionally 4 times a week. Anywhere between 30 and 50 minutes of HIIT workouts and core stability across the week and the refereeing on Saturdays and coaching kids rugby on a Sunday.

You need to balance volume and intensity over the session, figure out your maximum recoverable volume between sessions and consider accumulated fatigue over the long term which impacts your peak strength and is a function of intensity, volume and MRV.

Everyone is different but I follow the below and works well for all lifts

Maximum 10 reps over minimum of 2 sets above 90%, followed by maximum 20 reps over a minimum of 3 sets between 70%-90%

All speed work is 8 sets of 3 reps at 60%-70% of last predicted max looking to up weight while maintaining speed.

Assistance work 3 exercises, 3 sets in rep ranges of 8-15 looking to go to within a couple of reps of failure for each set.
