a Primark shoebox in Leicester

Tape over any gaps.

You can get DIY secondary glazing kits.... it's not glass don't panic!

Thick curtains, close before evening... but open if the sun is on the windows.

Candles... they give off heat.

Check the excluder tape around the door.

Fart a lot.

my old house was single glazed with electric heaters and it was freezing. A onesie is a great investment and blankets to snuggle down under. New look have some nice mens ones too.

If you own your property, have a llok on MoneySavingExpert. There are companies out there that offer cavity wall insulation and loft insulation free, your electric/gas provider probably runs one of these schemes

Hang curtains over doors, helps stop draughts too

If you don't have/can't afford new, thick curtains, tack some fleece to the insides of your existing ones. Makes a real difference.

Also, roller blinds behind curtains make a huge difference too.

Make sure you keep doors shut in rooms to keep the heat in, draw your curtains at dusk before the heat has a chance to escape. If your curtains fall over the radiator - tuck them behind and you wont loose all the heat there.

Hot water bottles, fleeces over your knees in the evening and layers - no point in having the heating blasting away and moaning about the cost if you're wandering round the house in your pants!
