Cardiff

Clarks Pie

Made in Cardiff by a family business they have been making pies for 100+ years.

Sadly the family have split in two after a recent rebranding and they have kind of gone all Coca Cola/Pepsi on us.

The only mince beef pie I like. You can buy them hot from their shop (the best way) or from any chippy.

If you ever visit our city, get one.

Good God I wouldn't feed a dog on anything from Ginsters or Greggs. I had a pie from an independent butchers & bakers in Hove that has totally spoilt me pie-wise, after I realised how good a pie CAN be but so rarely is, anything else is just a disappointment. One day I'll learn to make my own. Or move to Hove.

Not exactly pies but I love cheese and bacon pastries. The square ones with two opposite corners folded into the centre. Great cold but amazing heated up.

My mum makes a fabulous cheese and potato pie to which I am a tad addicted.

I'm rather partial to key lime pie too.

Good spot!....that must be Canhams in Church Rd - haven't had one in ages. There was a great independent bakery in Baker St of all places but not sure if still there. Their steak pies were brilliant as well as any of their fruit ones.

That's the place! Around the corner from Grand Avenue. I couldn't remember the name of it. I also truly never enjoyed a sausage roll before trying theirs, or since for that matter. The Aberdeen Angus pies were fantastic, and they weren't even expensive. I hope they are still in business, they deserve to be.

It is still there...an old established place and probably still will be long after my lifetime. I'll sample one next time I pass that way...purely for research of course

Ok that does sound very good. Providing it's not just before a meet. Goaty garlic breath is probably best kept to yourself!

Can still remember being taken to a, sadly, long-gone restaurant out near Allhallows when I 'were a ladd'.. and being presented Game Pie. Woweeee! Never had anything like it since. Come back Coombe House Restaurant so I can relive my youth.....

But, if I were making one myself, I would go for Chicken and Asparagus pie - yum yum
