"The last two years suggest humans spread more diseases. " So, so much. A bat virus that existed for decades until humans got hold of it, and boom, all over the world. Filthy creatures, these homo sapiens.

"Reports that seagulls are becoming urban by nesting on buildings instead of cliffs and bringing a big threat of birdflu to humans because they have evolved to have no fear of humans and contact with them. On top of this councils are being prevented from culling the gulls. Experts say they could be as dangerous as bats in the sense that they may be the source of new strains of the disease. Should we be worried?" Haven't gulls always been urban residents? They'll nest anywhere there's easy food and shelter

"No. They are called seagulls for a reason. They used to live by the sea but increasingly spreading inland. One theory is overfishing. They used to follow trawlers and scavenge on the scraps. As the trawlers go further and further our the seagulls wings get tired. Also these big industrial trawlers waste very little. Where once a trawlerman would gut the fish then throw the waste overboard for the seagulls. This has changed. Little is wasted on these big ships. Not even the guts .."

"You will find the seagulls were here before the houses were built. They are partial to a pied-a-terre near the local refuse sites though, possibly spreading back disease we have dumped? Beginning to wonder if op is speciesist " Tom no spciesist. He simply does not like creepy crawlies and poisonous snakes and spiders and one or two others. It is not only some animals tho. He does not like walnuts

"Can we train the cats to kill them and to leave the cyclists alone?" That's a good idea, but as long as they leave some alive to eat all the walnuts

"Can we train the cats to kill them and to leave the cyclists alone? That's a good idea, but as long as they leave some alive to eat all the walnuts " Most cats seem to relish showing off their walnuts. And their walnuts would be all that was left if they went after the average herring gull. Evil buggers (Op™)
