If so, do you prefer intertwined hands or … one on top of the other to show dominance or …

Yes depends on the position though obviously won’t in doggy twisted my arm doing that very painful.

Also depends on the person I suppose if its purely a release then no if they are higher up(yes it makes me sound like a jerk but have no better way if putting it) then I likely would adds to the connection.

Will also sleep beside them if the connection is right.

We usually interlink our fingers so who's hand is on top depends on the position and sometimes it's just fingers and our palms are apart. I don't really think too much about it, it's often more just an instinctual thing to reach for each others hands at times.

I some situations very much so. In the past, when I had a swinging partner, us holding a single hand was a way of keeping connected, both physically and emotionally whilst one or both of us where interacting with others as well.
