You can find this on any bill, multiply the new price cap kWh rate by the amount used for both gas and electricity. Add standing charges. Add it all together +5% VAT and you have your annual bill, divide by 12 for monthly payments. Most suppliers are asking way over what you will actually use on the new price.

You can take the money from that one and pay the electric! How does that even work. Do you have two separate bills with the same company? Gas and electric are different rates. Your bill will be split so they can charge accordingly. My BG one is. I only pay X amount a month but it covers both my gas and electric accounts." Mine have always listed the separate charges and usage of each but I've only paid one bill and had one overall credit/debit balance. I've never seen them do what Nora described and it seems mental to me.

"The annoying thing is I bet that the energy companies will still announce that they've made massive profits at their next financial year end. What made me laugh is they said you have £380 outstanding on your electric which needs to be paid today to enable us to work out your new plan. Then it got to gas and I’m £400 in credit! Erm no! You can take the money from that one and pay the electric! How does that even work. Do you have two separate bills with the same company? Yeah. Both with same company x That's so weird. I've only ever been given an overall debit or credit balance with them, never separate for gas and electric. I'm with British gas for both allways been 2 separate bills x" I've been with EDF and Bulb.

"Still got till Feb 2023 before a increase. But I think by then it will be 300-400 a month instead of the 130 currently paying. Everyone should invest in a wood burner that's what I'm planning and others are as well." Thought they caused pollution?

" Same for us on SSE, for some reason. They don't do dual fuel. Two lots of early exit fees instead of one?" We're not tied into a fixed deal, we're on the standard "green" energy so there's no "early exit". So, no exit fees.

"National Grid Transco still own the systems These crappy little utility companies only own your meter I did have a thought about going meter off eBay and billing Transco directly but of course they won’t allow that is a massive eCon " You could always apply for a shippers licence and start trading your extremely small consumption yourself whilst ensuring your supply stays online. Just wire yourself up to Hinckley point and you will be good to go.

"Fixed until the summer here. By then at least it will be warm enough to cut back considerably. And the way I see it, by then hopefully either a) the Russians will be begging us to take their cheap gas, or b) civil unrest will have resulted in energy providers incinerating members of the cabinet to keep the lights on. " High prices are here to stay, what’s going on in Russia is only the tip of the iceberg with the increase in global cost. Demand is high, coal power plants are shutting down worldwide, we don’t have the facility to produce green energy on the scale expected, gas is used to produce electricity so the price will never drop to a level we have seen in the past. The whole electricity market is going through a reform and has been for some time which is also driving power costs up.
