Now that electricity is due to go to 28p/kw then up another 40% in October.

How much is it to heat and run a Hot Tub after the 1st Aptil?

Bought mine last year, won't be using it permanently this year, will be treating is as a treat, so when the weather is good enough for a bbq etc, it will go on for 3 days then off the rest of the month etc. Inefficient, but it used for be ~£30 a month, (less to keep running that to heat up), now it's gonna be a tenner a go, for 2/3 days at a time. Annoying AF

I used to go out every Friday and Saturday...now as I have a hottub I stay in one of those nights and use the money I've saved to pay for the hottub ...so basically just pop 15 to 20 every week into a separate account..its actually less than a night out but basically pays for the extra running costs of one

The Hot Tub heater uses 3kw so if your being charged 25p Kw hour the cost would be 75p per hour but that’s only when the heater is on depending on how quickly it uses it’s heat , the pumps and lights hardly use anything so on average probably £4 per day but remember that soon adds up £30 per week £120 per month £400 per quarter

I know where to get them cheap if you are willing to fit yourself or payba roofer and electrician.

Otherwise your looking around £4500 for 3kw without battery storage.

There are videos on YouTube where pipework is modified to allow log burner or chiminea to heat by burning wood.

DIY solar water heating panels is easy to make also.

I bet all spas and places with saunas etc will probably be putting their prices up. Lots of places that used to be heated, including indoor shopping centres, will probably be freezing in the future. I went to one recently and it was freezing although not sure it was due to the cost of running or just a coincidence

I only really used mine over the weekends, empty quite a bit out and fill back up with hot water. Waste of water but it goes down the drain rather than into the ground.

It doesn't cost as much that way.

My electric bill hasn't increased for 3 yrs until now.

I will keep on eye on my bills even more once I get the hottub back out.

Might want to see what protection meters have to detect being defeated.. both old and smart.

One day they'll come change/read the meter and troubles begin..

Last Summer ours added an extra £50/£60 per month to the utility bill. So that should be an extra £75/£90 per month now.

It’ll be more of a treat this year instead of a nightly occurrence.

I used to have a blow up one I never gave my meter readings for 18months it cost me £1880 about £100 a month on 15p kWh I used it all rest round mind

Now I have a real one which sits 6 it’s about the same

On 24/7

I now turn it on on a Friday and off on a Sunday

I’m hoping it’s about £100 a month at 29p kWh

I have a smart meter so I’m monitoring it big time

A quick easy option to 1/4 the heating cost is "pool" hear pump - around £1500. This will give up to 5kw heat for 1kw energy input.

There are some good DIY Solar Thermal videos on YouTube or flat plate solar thermal panels would save considerably on power.
