How long is it before you decide your ghosted?

Or, if its just general chat and you haven't replied does that = ghosting too?

The manners thing annoys me.

I get told constantly I have no manners because I don't reply to random guys I have no intention of ever meeting.

Ghosting isn't right on anyone's part , absolutely no problem if a person isn't the right " type " but don't lead a person on or up the garden path in chatting etc if you know in your heart & soul that you will never meet , it ain't right and it certainly ain't cool.

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

Ghosting isn’t dropping a chat. Getting to the pint you dare not reply to anyone in case you decide you’re not interested and you’re labelled a time waster or a ghost. Seems to be an expectation if you reply and chat you’ve agreed to a meet.

Not necessarily. We can be talking to someone for weeks and they can say or do something that makes us ghost them.

I find this interesting, as when people have spoken to ladies regarding dating apps etc (I know this isn't one) a lot have feedback and said they felt used/unwanted etc when a guy didn't respond and would have apppricated if they said thankyou but no thankyou.

How long does it have to be before it’s classed as ghosting?

Or how many messages have to be ignored before it’s classed as ghosting?

Just curious what other people would class as ghosted max

We class it as ghosted when we’re arranging a meet. It gets to the point of setting a date and then silence or we’ve arranged it and then hear no more.

this.

Anything else is just a conversation reaching its natural course. Okay, it feels odd when you've just asked a question or something, but that's coz you cant read engagement on line. You think you are scintillating company. The other person has moved from thinking you could be interesting to a one of those salesmen that keep asking questions to try and win back the sale.

I guess in principle it would work like this . You'd have to join the meet list...then if your two phones werent connected by the end of a 24 hour period (or any period really) then the meet would be failed and you'd both get a red tick . Nobody should be able to hide their red ticks like they can their veris .

Ghosting says more about them than you, depends on the situation but if the chat just dies then it wasn’t really there.

But if they make plans with you then just ghost that’s a bit different as it shows a lack of maturity, and insecure on their side to not be upfront. I’m sure either side of the fence men and women would agree we would rather be just told than left without a bit of closure.

Maybe not name and shame them on the forum ..but a feature similair to the verification one could work . Green tick for veris . Red tick for ghosties

What would stop the guy that I said no thanks to this morning, who went on to call me a fat cunt, 'reporting' me for ghosting him?

Or me deciding I don't like your post so red ticking you?

It would be absolutely open to abuse, just as name and shame would.

. verification is open to abuse too though ...

I guess in principle it would work like this . You'd have to join the meet list...then if your two phones werent connected by the end of a 24 hour period (or any period really) then the meet would be failed and you'd both get a red tick . Nobody should be able to hide their red ticks like they can their veris .

You can hide verifications though… there would be no getting away from the red rock of doom "

Nope . Marked for life . Just so nobody can be disappointed and ghosted by you in future. I don't use the term "ghosting" in reference to blanking messages ..only meets

It is open to abuse - which is why most people don't take it too seriously.

So both people would get a fail if their phones don't meet? How would that work with people like me who invited 5 guys round (all verified profiles) and only 2 turn up. They'd all get one red tick and my profile would be trashed by three?

How would that be fair when I was exactly where I said I would be?

Then again how would Fab know if I said "I was there" and they said "No she wasn't, I was"?

Obviously in that case the fact two others were would back me up, but otherwise how would Fab know who was lying and who wasn't?

As an app ..easy . There's a feature on some dating sites and snapchat that tells you how close to other users you are .. the same would work for fab . You couldn't blag it . And no your profile wouldn't get trashed only the ghost gets the red tick the person or people who attended wouldnt .

How is the app going to know who turned up and who didn’t?

You say “I turned up”, they say “I turned up” how do the app know who was in the meeting place and who wasn’t?

Aslong as the users who agreed to meet and their phones were registered at the same location.

"Ghosting isn't right on anyone's part , absolutely no problem if a person isn't the right " type " but don't lead a person on or up the garden path in chatting etc if you know in your heart & soul that you will never meet , it ain't right and it certainly ain't cool.

Not necessarily. We can be talking to someone for weeks and they can say or do something that makes us ghost them. "

Ghosting isn't right or proper , ghosting , to me ,is only when a person doesn't turn up , you can chat away but if you don't reply is just that ..a non reply... ghosting to me is when you have arranged to meet and prepared for such and then nothing , everybody probably had a different take on Ghosting but to me a non reply isn't ghosting cause nothing has been arranged but when a person has agreed to meet and doesn't show without any explanation or thought ..that to me is ghosting.

but if they didn't meet you'd not know who ghosted whom.

My best approach is to have a way of manually reporting ghosting. But you only get an amber flag after 5 reports. Red after 10. And different ppl.

Central

Deal with pre-meet interaction here as tentative, investigation. Most of us are not compatible, so chats die. Understand the fab terms and accept them.

For involved relationships, I don't think it's right to drop people. But things like danger etc, may make it necessary.

I don't really understand what ghosting is.. I'm pretty busy so I'm a flakey replier at best, but i usually catch up and then have a little spurt before becoming flakey again

The breadcrumbing threads definitely made me pull back from messaging in case people feel that I'm leading them on

Breadcrumbers can be seen to lead people on ok but it's best to state if a person wants things to develop further , least you know if a person is genuinely interested.

Agreed. People would just delete their account and start again.

Positive enforcement means people stay, negative means they will work a way round it.

Anywho, time to ghost this thread

The phones will never be at the same location so how will Fab work out who deserves the red tick?

. Its not a hard concept to grasp I don't know if you're just willingly being ignorant or not.. you have Snapchat ? Check out the user map .. it shows you where you and your phone are ... And it shows you where other users are .. the principle is not hard to understand. You'd set the location of the meet into the app.. then once you'd arrive at the location you'd not get a red tick ... The one who doesn't arrive "ghosts" ...then gets an automatic red tick which they can't hide from

It's all hypothetical anyway. Like one poster before said ..the apple store won't host apps that are related to sex . So it's all irrelevant anyway . Just a thought

I’m 40. I don’t have Snapchat.

And of those that I know do have it I don’t know any who allow it to track their location.

People on here often don’t use their names, never mind allow the app to track their location.

Yeah I've literally just been ghosted on a dating app.

Had a date arranged for Saturday. He messaged last night too asking me to talk on the phone before our date.

Checked this morning, his messages deleted and profile gone. Weird.
