"I dont' mean the way we all moan about things that have happened. I DO mean professional moaners. I have two friends who moan and complain constantly, one of them telling me the same thing over and over and over and over. I told one of them it was enough already! and they said , 'that is what friends are for ' ...... fuck me is it ? Good moaning." Is the bumming starting soon?

"I’m happy to listen to friends moan and complain but there comes a point that I ask, what are you going to do about it? If it’s nothing then shut up about it" Exactly ! I don't even mind the moaning being for ever if it's short.... e.g. someone grumbling about their day/job/relationship but when it goes on for fucking hours or the whole of a get together.......... ffs! Makes me want to moan.

If it is affecting your MH then you are well within your rights to tell them. Especially true if you have offered advice and they reject it to carry on moaning.

"Well as "that" friend I can relate to both camps. I suffer quite badly from depression and anxiety. I work on my own pretty much all day and don't get to talk to anyone much. My wife and I jools work long hours and shattered when we get home. Part of dealing with my depression is vocalising my concerns. So when I see people it comes across as me moaning. I try very hard to not do it and hide behind humour. Unfortunately I am destined to be one of those people who has a black cloud hanging over my head all the time. I can sympathize with people for not wanting to be around me and understand them avoiding my company. I don't even like me so I don't know why others might. Needless to say I haven't got many friends. In fact I can count them on two fingers. I'm sorry " Hello. Having battled my own demons I wanted to share that I believe there is a while world of difference between voicing concerns (especially if you are aware where they are coming from) and endless moaning. It seems you have the awareness, can I suggest you kick off any relases with "I need ten minutes just to vent out loud. I'd really appreciate your time just to listen". I personally think many people struggle with hearing moans as they feel an obligation to help improve the other person. Removing that feeling (or even knowing listening is tej help you need) may make it easier for all.

It would allow the expressing of concerns and may also arrive at different strategies to cope more effectively.

I was seeing this as complementing such help. Sometimes a moan to a friend is all that is needed. It's doing it in a way that respects both sides. Something the OPs friends seems to ignore!
