Does anybody else solo travel? I need to do more trips this year , and think it's such a great way of meeting people as well

Yeah man, I've done that a lot.

Mostly for the solitude, like for a day or two in a new place, it's really refreshing

But if it's a new people thing? There's some cool packages you can book on with like 8-9 random other people on guided walks.

A friend of mine walked the mountains in Slovakia on one; she said it was great

Exodus is good for this! Smallish groups and great trips. I did Transylvania about 7 years ago with them and still meet up with some of the group now. T

I do it to avoid people. Nothing worse than well meaning people thinking you are lonely just because you are on holiday on your own and they invite themselves into your space

My friend and I have been looking at that Transylvania one for a birthday, actually.

You've only further sold the idea

I don't think I'd have the guts myself but on a few holidays we have joined up with solo travellers at our hotels for day trips, etc. Met some lovely people and I admire their bravery, especially the women.

I wouldn't go alone no. I love to share my experiences with a companion so it wouldn't be the same.

Most the time in hotels you have to pay for a single person supplement

I love it

Everything at my pace, in my time

I never do anything wildly exciting but a sea or city view, a hotel balcony, a buffet breakfast and an afternoon potter is just the ticket. A quiet early evening meal and a breath of air completes the day.

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

I work in the travel industry so meet a new group of people every trip. I do get some repeat trekkers though, a bit like Gbat Trekking Groupies.

Interesting subject. I have done a number of solo holidays but not through a group. I found it okay on the day time but evenings dragged and hate the table for one scenario. Be good to meet a holiday companion.

Not all the time, it takes some hunting but there are some really good deals out there for solo travellers

I do a little bit when I’m working abroad I like to go off alone at weekends and explore but for holidays I like company. I find experiences, sunsets, mountains etc. more meaningful when shared with someone.but it’s also harder work so giving it a go this year

Solo to Sydney again week after next, can't wait for 24 hours of no emails, calls, or other interruptions! Feet up, beautiful hosties bringing cocktails and a rare fillet steak. . . .and then wake up row 88 in economy. . . .well, we can dream eh. . . .

Hmmmm. I think I'll be in row 34 of a Ryanair flight, followed by an AVE train ride, so perhaps a little less luxury

I've never done it but I'd love to. I'd feel guilty now about leaving all my responsibilities.

You shouldn't. Me time is essential for us all and escaping is the only chance you will get. My life is very busy with family and work so to get away is my way of recharging my batteries.

Mr KC is very supportive of my weeks' adventure and our daughter knows I'll be back. Do it, if you can!

Me time is so important. It can be an hour, day week or longer, everyone needs it.

I do it everyday for a coffee, it helps to keep me sane.

Next Door

I've travelled alone for years past 6yrs.

I choose where I go, what I do, where I eat. Etc.

I do wish I could share/ enjoy with that someone special but I don't.

If I didn't go alone, then I wouldn't go anywhere.

In the west.

I travelled along the Med a couple of years ago, it took a bit of getting used to as it was my first time. Day times were easy, at night I looked for other solo travellers in a restaurant and tried to get in there then I wasn't the only one in the place.

I also used to go to the same bar in each place at night then the staff got to know me and chat.

This really. I went to a lovely farmhouse at the base of the Pyrenees about 7 years ago. Cost me loads though as it was supplements galore. Beautiful place though.

I solo travel.

Both for work and I’ve holidayed.

My work takes me a fair few places.

Surprising I have a job I know.

I love travelling alone though.

Mainly the silence and lack of people trying to talk to me.

It’s peaceful and you can do, go and see whatever you want whenever you want.
