or extra virgin. I was doing my shopping list and the difference you pay is quiet a lot. Do you notice it or do you just use a cheaper oil possibly compromising on taste but saving a few bob?

Theres really no difference in taste unless you have a defined taste palette, most ppl wouldnt notice the difference. Extra virgin is healthier as its more refined but that depends on whether you use a lot of oil in your cooking on a regular basis

I use "ordinary" olive oil for cooking and virgin oil for salad dressings, dipping etc.

There's a noticeable difference in the taste of a good quality virgin olive oil and a standard one. I don't have a particularly refined palate but I do love olives and olive oil

Thanks, I usually try to use the extra in salads but bother using it in normal cooking as it's too expensive. I do though use olive oil mostly and sometimes r*peseed oil for the rest.

I bought a tin of green olives stuffed with chorizo last week. I'm going to open that this weekend

Cool. Nothing makes food taste quite the same. I had a friend who used to dedicate one day a month to making ghee

I have used a little in the past but found it a bit too rich personally and although I thought it had more fats that olive oil, apparently they have a simar amount if fats. However I am told ghee is a bit of a laxative?

“Virgin oil … is that what stops your wife making that squeaking sound dahlink?”

THAT’S how you get marched out of the shop
