So many people won’t entertain someone who is short. Is that really an important thing?

Tell them when you lie on your back you're 2" taller.

That should do the trick...

"Unfortunately to most yes. I'm 5 11 ISH and some females say I'm to short for them "

I'm a similar height and have sometimes received the comment "oh, I thought you were going to be taller..."

What am I supposed to do? Bring a tape measure with me to prove it?

Nah, stuff that. If I did that I'd probably end up having to explain the difference between centimetres and inches...

This was after going on a date a couple of years ago and the bloke calling me a giant and asking me to switch sides of the path with him as he thought his side was slopes down a but

I’m 5’7 but had heels on so was probably about 5’9.. hardly giant material

For women? When it comes to men? Regarding sex or dating? YES without a shadow of a doubt...the number of women telling me words like " if only you were taller, you'd be perfect/I would date you" is beyond demoralising.

The one thing about your appearance that you can't change...is also the one thing about your appearance that will be a deal breaker for a significant amount of women.

I've always puzzled at women's attracrion for men over 6foot. Do they not know it only accounts for about a 3rd of guys. Such small percentages.

Watch what happens if you ask how much they weigh when they ask how tall you are.

Its really important to me, I couldn’t have a man my height or just about my height.

Im about 5’5”-5’6” , ideally my absolute fave are the 6’2”-6’6” range

But so long as he’s taller by 4-5” we are good x

It makes me feel more feminine seeing the height difference and how bigger he is compared to me

You're 5ft7 which is one inch taller than my husband, the same height as my brother and one inch shorter than my dad. As far as I'm concerned it's the perfect height for a man. Easy to cuddle and kiss without stretching up.

At 5ft 4 1/2 I've been with men shorter than me and over 6ft. I prefer them around my height but don't rule out any guy over their height if I like them

No, it's not important for me. I'd say for a fair women it is, it's just one of those pesky preferences sadly. And no, people aren't the same lying down. For whatever reason, feelings of femininity, ingrained societal views, general preference... it is what it is.

Without making anyone feel any worse for being short (I’m short myself). Have you ever considered you’re getting knocked back for other reasons but they’re using your height as an easy excuse?

We do this all the time with age. Say they’re out of our age range but if someone messaged who matched all our other preferences and was a couple of years outside it we might chat more.

Hi op.

For some women it is - yes. Some women prefer the man to be taller/larger as it can make us feel daintier/feminine when we’re with them - and as the average woman gets taller/larger (I’m a heffalump compared to myself of a few years ago) then they want to meet ever taller men.

Last weekend I met a guy a little shorter than me. Helped that he happens to be drop dead gorgeous. There was a distinct advantage to the ‘lovemaking’. When he was on top - which was a lot of the time - I didn’t feel crushed as I have with many lovers - and I didn’t get short of breath due to that.

Would that make me prioritise shorter guys who are lighter than me? - almost certainly not.

I’m sure as hell seeing that particular chap again though.

I guess it's like anything - we all have things we want in a partner. Some women want a hung guy, some men want a lady that is slim, some want a partner big boobs or a guy with muscles. In this case it is height and for some people it is important. I guess from a primeval angle the lady wants a guy who can protect her therefore someone bigger than her is an attraction.

Personally I can't think of anyone I've been with who has been taller than me, and at 5' 9" I'm not the tallest, but that doesn't necessarily mean I wouldn't go there.

I may make a difference for women but I'm not sure it is much of a deal breaker for guys. Maybe because I'm 6"1' most people M&F are not as tall as me. And if it is a big thing for guys many women wear heels admittedly not 24/7.

I am 5ft7 barefoot as a trans lady Being bisexual I do have height preference that varies between men and women .

With men I prefer them to be taller than me (especially if going out and about ) but it’s not set in stone. Women usually seem to be around 5ft-5ft4 I have generally met as an average though I do have an incredible female fuck buddy that is 6ft3 of muscle / fitness.

I've gone on dates with ppl who want 6ft plus. Yet have them found out their ex's are all shorter.

If I were to guess why ....

There's a belief that tall men will make them feel safe. But on reality lots of men can do that.

I also suspect that ppl who worry about it give off an energy that isn't helpful to getting dates. Soendong time worrying about shit you can't control is draining.

"I met a guy who online looked quite the statuesque type. Bodybuilder, very manly. Met him he was shorter than me. By a good few inches. There he was throwing me around the bed and I just couldn’t take him seriously.

Though it was probably cause I felt deceived more than his height "

I do sometimes see guys out and about and they are about same height as me (5’5” barefoot) , maybe an inch taller but muscly. I just can’t tho

Cos even the frame is pretty tiny even if muscular

"Anyone below 5” is no good on here unfortunately

I’m 5”6 and I have a hard time on here myself tbh "

Height will be part of the factor the main issue is your a single guy and for every guy on this site to get just one meet a year, every woman & couple would need to be doing at least 2 meets a week which lets face it isn't realistic

Try clubs where people can see you & your personality, attend a social, people are likely to be less concerned by your height in real life than they will via message

"Height isn’t as important as looks.

I can prove this.

Let’s say,

Chris Hemsworth is 5ft 7”

John Merrick is 6ft 2”

Take your pick.

Don't be ridiculous...Chris Hemsworth is around 6'3

Agree Chris Hemsworth is a tall guy. Not sure where the 5ft 7 came from "

It came from me saying “Let’s say” as in hypothetical.

Not factual.

It's important to those it's important to, and not important to the rest.

But of course there are people who will make a decision based on it, like any other physical feature (see every thread on preference!). Would I like to be taller? Probably, yes (thanks 4'11" Mum!), but there is literally nothing I can do about it so not much point losing too much sleep over it! And I hated basketball anyway.

It also works in reverse - I probably wouldn't date a woman who was taller than me (Bernie Ecclestone: exhibit A), so I can see why a woman would say the same. But I'm firm believer that there's someone for everyone!

It's a strong preference for me, but hasn't been an absolute deal breaker in the past when I've liked everything else about them. But, from experience, some of my favourite sexual positions can be awkward or less enjoyable with shorter men. Plus, I'm not exactly a delicate, waif-like creature, so the worry of squashing them is real

Yes but you preferring slim women makes you shallow in our society...the women that prefer tall men... well aperantly they just have "high" (pun intended) standards.

It's not really the height that is the issue, but the double standards that emerge because of these so called preferences.

Doggy style for me is much easier with a shorter guy because they slot right in and there isn’t an over abundance of leg to the rear.

Because I'm the 5'7 guy who is in shape and takes care of himself, however for a woman that wants a tall man I will never be good enough. You put me next to a tall guy who isn't in shape and doesn't "take care" of himself and let that woman choose ....she will either choose the tall guy or she will choose none of us. Height doesn't automatically make you attractive man, you need other things to go with it , some men are lucky to have both but that's just the way it is. I'm 5'8 and im in shape and i'm a decent looking guy and i'd rather that than being tall and unattractive.

Wirral.

I like tall men. They don't have to be 6' plus, just a few inches taller than me (I'm 5'3").

If a guy I'm attracted to doesn't like bigger girls, I don't stress over it, throw my toys out of the pram & accuse him of being shallow,I just move on.

Seems like some "shorter" guys just have a chip on their shoulder.

Accept that you can't change it & maybe you'll feel happier?

Cos even the frame is pretty tiny even if muscular "

I'm sorry but I'd disagree. I'd choose the one with the personality."

I don't understand how your preference for personality relates to what I said. The point was that a woman that wants a tall man doesn't care about a man's personality or anything else about him until he ticks the height box.

"It's just one of the Physical attribute that help, if a 5'7 guy is in shape, groomed and takes care of himself then he'll be more attractive than a 6'3 guy who doesn't.

I disagree with that

You do? Howcome?

Because I'm the 5'7 guy who is in shape and takes care of himself, however for a woman that wants a tall man I will never be good enough. You put me next to a tall guy who isn't in shape and doesn't "take care" of himself and let that woman choose ....she will either choose the tall guy or she will choose none of us. And to strengthen my argument I will copy and paste a comment from within this very thread that proves my point (hopefully she won't mind using her words) ...

Again I disagree...a woman that wants a man to be over 6' will either choose will ferrel or she will not choose any of them. That's just my opinion...but also many of the comments on this thread from some of the ladies on fab support my argument
