Which do you find easier, your professional or personal life?

Ok, so I know they’re very different. But do you find it easier to navigate and manage your working life - and all that that entails - or do you respond more naturally to the pressures of your personal life (family, friends, domestic stuff, love life, etc etc etc)?

I sometimes find my working life easier (which says a lot, as I work with some very challenging children ), as I can detach slightly and leave it behind at the end of the day.

The home stuff can feel never-ending!

What about you? Don’t overthink it too much. If you had to make a snap choice, what would you say?

My professional life.

I'm good at my job,I enjoy it,I know where I want to be, I know I'll get there.

I'm a fuck up away from that

In productivity world work life obliterates personal life

I definitely find my work life easier to balance. I have routine at work and set times to do things. Work just flows but at home I don't have that routine so I end up wandering about not getting a lot done

I thrive on routine, at work I am organised and organise everybody else. At home I need someone to organise me

Work life is much easier for me to deal with. It’s mundane and the same every day so I know what to expect. It very rarely springs any surprises on me and I can usually just switch off while I’m there.

Home life with young kids is constant work and I always have to be switched on.

As much fun as it can be, being married comes with its own set of challenges. It’s constant work, sacrifice and give and take. Add to that I have ageing parents and home life can be stressful but I wouldn’t change any of it.

In the west.

Probably my work. I have to make choices and decisions pretty quickly, then it's done and dusted with.

At home procrastination rules.

Definitely my personal life is easier. I can be myself in my personal life so I’m more comfortable and confident dealing with issues. At work I’m constantly having to alter myself, the way I speak, the language I use, the opinions I have on issues even that affect me etc. It’s just exhausting and when a problem arises it you even have to manage your emotions on it. You can’t be angry or sad etc. Where as in my personal life there’s at least space for that. The hardest part is seeing young people I work with trying to navigate these spaces they’re in and not being able to help because of the constraints of work too.

Sorry to unload but I needed that (selfish I know). Thanks for the post OP

"Professional.

"

And that’s not a gripe.

I wouldn’t swap my professional life for all the vag in China.

Or is it tea..

Either way.

I don’t find either of them easy.

Professionally, I’ve done what I do for many years but it’s a means to an end, albeit it a complicated and risky(ish) one. It doesn’t really bring much personal satisfaction.

Privately, almost all daily duties fall to me which often means squeezing them in and around work, and hence working many evenings after doing domestic stuff.

Home life is easier, less interruptions and I can be proactive and not reactive.

Sitting on my ass watching youtube or playing playstation is such a hard life

I think it would be true for most people that the professional job is easier to manage (unless there are particular issues someone has to deal with). Personal lives can often be more complicated and of course you have to deal not only with day to day issues which can be quite difficult for some people but also everybody has to deal with sad events throughout life including the loss of loved ones.

Professional.

I've been doing the same job essentially for the last 20 years. Its not a massive field and I'm one the top people in my company. I'm well within myself and my skills, not overly stressed and well compensated.

Personally I've only been this version of me for a couple of years. I don't have all the answers and I don't really know where I'll end up

Professional for me, too. I know I'm good at my job, enjoy it (mainly), and everything pretty much under control. It's stressful, but also (largely) able to switch off when I need to.

Personal life is fun too, but certainly more variables and ups and downs, and I find myself worrying about smaller stuff at home than at work!
