Charlie and the chocolate factory (the old one), I remember watching it as a kid in school and being too scared after breaktime to go back into class to finish watching it

The witches had a similar effect.

I suppose it depends on if the film is age appropriate.

Watching the fly remake as a 6-7 year old was horrific due to the gore. But then again it was an 18.

Watching Optimus Prime die was sad and more age appropriate.

Fuck that's rough, at school. I seen it as a kid popping my head into the cinema room of a nuclear bunker tourist attraction (against the advise of the warning on the door). Not graphic but very disturbing. Especially considering its predictions weren't fiction as such but expected outcomes.

Doesn’t really count I suppose cause I wasn’t a kid when I saw this film, but “ Schindler’s List “ fair traumatised me as an adult.

I do remember going to bed frequently after Hammer House of Horror films with that exquisite contradiction of feeling safe in my bed but terrified of potential vampires and ware wolves and Frankenstein’s monsters roaming around the countryside outside of my house!

I went to a film night at the local youth centre with my brother when I was... no idea. Younger than 9.

They had on what I remember to be a cheesy horror. No idea what it was called, but the bit I remember had a women in a bath, and I believe a monster came up through it. I think it had a fin on its head or something.

That actually scared me off having bubbles in the bath for a while.

Wish I knew what film that was, as it was my very first horror.

I saw Aliens when I was 8 gave me nightmares for a week its now one of my favourite films

Miri saw Nightmare on Elms St when she was 10 had the same effect on her that Aliens did to me. She now loves a good horror film.

Recently - hachi, a dogs tale. Horrific , never cried so much

That child catcher gave me nightmares for years as well.Same for the witch

I was about 12/13 freaked me out massively,to this day I can't crawl through a series of air ducts or look into a giant leathery egg without getting the heebie-jeebies

Off the top of my head three films I can think off that scared me when I was a kid..

Grown up now I can enjoy these kind of films and I actually root for the villain as they to be gruesome and savage

- Jeepers Creepers (remembered being scared shitless at the scene the demonic creature is in the police station jail where it kills and ends up eating one off the inmates body parts to regenerate)

- Nightmare on elm street 3 (yep I was a little paranoid about dreams after not to mention I was afraid of going into the basement)

- Arachnaphobia (spiders creepy...especially poisonous ones)

After having been traumatized by the wolf in The Neverending Story and "advised" by my parents to steer clear of The Gremlins as a consequence, I think it took me until my 30s to watch The Gremlins while just peaking through the hand in front of my eyes

As an adult - 28 days later

I don't do horror or psycho now. I'd be a nervous wreck
