So you are chatting to someone and get a connection! It's the distance! Do you persevere and see what happens? It's like over 300 miles!

Probably not for someone that far away, unless I've known them a long time and trust they will be there, and it's the person in the photos.

I don't like travelling alone, so he would have to be pretty special to me to make the journey.

"So you are chatting to someone and get a connection! It's the distance! Do you persevere and see what happens? It's like over 300 miles! "

It's a tricky one

Sometimes the connection you think you have just doesn't translate when you do meet

Sometimes it does though

I would keep the communication open but wouldn't go out of my way to meet until the situation was mutually agreeable / convenient

Distance is often a pain in the hairy pert arse on here.

If you get on well with someone though, you'll eventually make it work.

No. I am very clear with anyone who messages me I can't do distance. I can't travel much or far and I can't afford hotels. So there is no point chatting. I am a realistic person.

If the connection was there then I absolutely would go for it.

I'm in the privileged position of having few commitments, being able to travel weekends and book hotels whenever wanted, so distance isn't a deciding factor for me.

I don't think I would travel that far to meet anyone. If by chance I was going to be in that area anyhow that's different but no I wouldn't travel that far for a meet off here no matter how well we got on and I wouldn't expect anyone to do it for me either.

I’ve had a guy fly to meet me before (not a Fabber). We had a great weekend, but it is quite a pressured situation. I can remember the fear of disappointing, as he had gone to so much effort and expense. Thankfully he wasn’t disappointed, but I don’t think I’d do it again.

Personally it wouldn't be for me

As Bussy said above sometimes the connection isn't anywhere near as strong in real life and I'd never travel too far unless I could be 100% sure that they are who they say and wouldn't ghost me.

I prefer locals as we can meet for a no pressure social first and then arrange another meet if we want to after that.

Unless the 3 time gym goer doesn’t bench press my body weight and leave with you.

Relatively safe bet.

A) he can’t.

B) you don’t go to the gym.

Wish we could invest in that sort of distance.

Oh god I had a similar situation once, ended with me wanking while he lay next to me playing candy crush on his phone. He'd only flown from the Isle of Man to Liverpool but I could hardly wait for his flight back home again.

On the other end of the spectrum I flew several hundred miles out of my way to stay with someone I'd been chatting to in America and that was completely amazing. I also had an american FB who used to fly to London for work, I'd get the train down there and we'd have the most glorious weekends together.

I once did a surprise visit to a friend I knew via online video chat room & the phone, 270 miles from Scunthorpe to Stranraer, rang them once i'd arrived to meet them, total disaster! We did meet up but was driving back home 15 mins later and we barely spoke again. Lesson learnt!

Have had some good pre-arranged long distance meetings with previously un-met friends though.

Ah I know. I guess I find it frustrating that so many men have tried to argue with me about distance over the last couple of years. I am really clear when they contact me if they're too far away. And then they start negotiating about MY boundaries.

This is the fab curse isn't it? Because you're kinda forced to keep up building that intimacy online - until if you can and will meet. So it builds extra pressure and expectation as you're less likely to travel across the country for a swift, 1hr coffee.. but if the chemistry is there in person then it'll be amazing!!

More of a risk but definitely worth it I say

"This is the fab curse isn't it? Because you're kinda forced to keep up building that intimacy online - until if you can and will meet. So it builds extra pressure and expectation as you're less likely to travel across the country for a swift, 1hr coffee.. but if the chemistry is there in person then it'll be amazing!!

More of a risk but definitely worth it I say "

Says the woman in Great Yarmouth, if the chemistry was there I'd fly to Norwich as long as you promise. . . . .to pick me up at the Airport. Let the rest follow as we find it!

Redhill

170 miles over here… we meet when we can and make the most of every time we meet.

No sorry I wouldn't. I wouldn't bother chatting too long to them as I would be concerned about whether or not they were just winding me up x

If I didn't have commitments I'd take a long ass flight if the connection was worth it. And sometimes you just know they are worth it.

"So you are chatting to someone and get a connection! It's the distance! Do you persevere and see what happens? It's like over 300 miles! "

It's 300 miles to the place or 300 miles round trip ? either way it's a long way BUT if both click well why not ..it's a yes from me

Once upon a lifetime ago I’d have travelled but would have made a weekend out of it with plans to do something else nearby or on the way.
