Porn effect on teens

Watched worrying Netflix doc called Girls Wanted about 'amateur' porn industry luring educated, affluent 18yo girls with free flights and cash to make porn. The agent candidly admitted they might get work for about 6months as fresh faces then either have to go home or move to more extreme work.

It's worrying that well brought up youngsters these days can have this as their baseline for serial relationships.

Well it's clearly different in terms of the access most 18yos now have to watch porn, be contacted by film makers and the ease with which their close peers will be able to watch them

Not much different the sun and mirror was seen in nearly every house in UK at time from kids to granny saw page 3 and was 16 at time as guardian signed the waiver for it. Kids these days may see porn but also know more about life than I did at that age.

"18 is a kid. So depressing "

One girl said she'd only had sex once before joining the am-porn circuit and doing films with older guys, multiple guys and rough sex. I kinda think, Kids robbed of the joys of innocent sexual exploring and development.

In the west.

I quite often hear my students talking about friends or girls they know with OF accounts. They are mostly teenagers.

Page 3 is very different than a porn film though and I think you are wrong, young people don't know more than we did they see a distorted version of sex and believe that's what's expected of them.

No it's worrying for everyone involved in it. The internet has made OF and webcam sites so accessible and are they considered the starting point the way Page 3 was in the 70's and 80's.

A girl on the doc had a bf who was struggling with her choices. He told her he felt she was essentially a prostitute.

I think same goes for OF accounts. But society seems to be cool with our kids being sex workers!!!

I think these things are becoming normalised because of the exposure the get through all media platforms.

I saw a programme a few weeks ago about youngsters living on Zante for the summer. One of the girls had an OF site and spoke about how much money she was making. Her BF was taking the photos and I think, I'm not certain though, they had a camera set up in their bedroom.

Do you think? Yet the stigma and mud has stuck with poor Katie Price and Lynsey Dawn Mackenzie.

Not at all. My point is there's an assumption girls may fall into being sex workers though circumstances beyond their control such as poor education, poverty, lack of options or trafficking. Rather than seeing it as almost a right of passage into adulthood

I think there's an important difference between people going into the port industry as a career and naive kids doing 'amateur' porn including OF as a kind right of passage to adulthood.

Can't image what society will be like when all the OF teens are grown up and in responsible positions. All their videos will come back to haunt.

Huge difference in maybe watching porn and actually being in it , so many questions to answer about the topic .

I think OnlyFans has been a coupe for pork producers. None of the checks that would prevent kids getting into sex work in the past. Don't have to travel to a dodgy area in a big city. Don't have to strip infront of a camera operator.

I think in 10-20 years we are going to see loads of very sad Middle Aged women struggling to live with the fact they gave up on trying to progress a career or education and instead made a very basic salary on OF until they were replaced with the next naive young beauty.

Did not help me in the slightest on the relationship side and none of it explored respect, the other womans feeling or boundaries. But at least when it came to having sex for the first time the body wasn't a great mystery and the rest came natural. I did forgo the dodgy German accents though.

I would hope my kids when the do access porn access some of the works of some of the ethical porn producers out there. Unfortunately I think this is wishfull thinking as its still very much the minority of porn out there.

Until recently, I worked in a prison for children (boys and girls, aged 12-18) as I could tell you a lot about how porn has normalised sexual activities that I knew nothing about at that age and has certainly increased the number of teenage sex offenders. The amount of bragging I used to hear about what lads had done to girls on the outside that they hadn't but they'd seen in porn was unreal.

But then they thought they were drug dealers when they were actually victims of County Lines abuses.

It is being normalised. I've already had multiple conversations with my teens about why mainstream porn is problematic. Do I now need to pre-empt conversations about being a sex worker?

This horrified me. Leicester Uni wrote a toolkit for students on how to be a sex worker.

I've seen news about girls paying for uni via sex work. The joys of uk education in 2022. I don't think many students are worldly enough to understand the longer term implications.

Just occurred to me too. This doc was the USA, where you can't buy alcohol until 21. But you can consent to someone having rights over a vid of you doing extreme sex acts.

Agreed. I was thinking more the stigma that will follow them in the future
