Hi,

We’ve been travelling and wanted to reply to all our messages when we got back. We are now back and our unread messages dropped from 57 to 25. The missing unread messages aren’t read, they are just gone - vanished. Is there a time limit by when messages have to be read before they get automatically deleted? All the messages that were read and responded to are still there.

We like to respond to all messages where possible, even if it’s a no thank you, so this was quite a surprise to us.

Thanks

They may have left the site.

How long were you travelling and didn't log on?

Its normal for messages to delete.. But I'm not sure of the criteria

we were gone 3 weeks, but occasionally logged on to respond to friends on here. You kinda have better things to do while on holidays than read messages from strangers

About 1 week ago they were still all here as unread.

shits creek

I think they sit 4 weeks and then auto delete

Or if the user leaves the site the messages vanish when the profile does.

Thanks,

Yes, looks like once it hits exactly 4 weeks the unread messages self-delete

That‘s a real shame. I presume if they wanted to message us again, it would even show them this warning that we hadn‘t responded to their last message? Any way of undoing this? Are there any moderators that know more?
