When you walk in to the pool area and your eyes are stinging because it's so strong it is not down to the chlorine.

Cyanogen chloride forms when chlorine from the pool reacts with nitrogen in urine. It acts like tear gas, roughing up the eyes, nose and lungs, and it’s classified as an agent of chemical warfare.

Please don't pee in the pool.

Adults should know better but I'm pretty sure every time you go to family swimming pool or leisure centres your swimming in kids and babies piss all the time. There's chemicals added to the water to treat this sort of thing so it's no big deal to be honest. I guessing most people will use the swimming pool when on holiday and not think about it twice . Get out the pool and happily sip on their pinacolada straight away.

If the system couldn't cope with what is a relative drop in the ocean (maybe English Channel, more realistically), they wouldn't be allowed to remain open.They regularly take water samples. However Iv'e known everyone to be ordered out to shiver while the appearance of a 'Richard the Third' is dealt with.

The purple dye remains a myth which is fairly successful until the kids realise that they've never seen it.

With regard to using the loo instead, it is amazing how many at resorts etc get off the lounger and into the pool for just long enough to download a stream.
