Friend Requests

I have seen quite a few statuses and profiles making a big deal out of friend requests.

Does anyone know why it's such a big deal for people? I'm just intrigued as it doesn't feel like a big thing.

Do people get a limit on friend numbers or something?

I think it has something to do with the friends only pictures

Reason alot of profiles make a big deal about it is because the friends only pics and videos and the fact alot of people just send an request without even a hello etc.

It’s a big thing for some because that’s where their face pictures are

It’s just bad manners.

It’s basically saying “let me see the pics you’ve actively chosen to keep non-public, but I can’t be arsed making any effort”

We have clear face pics of us both and some nude pics. We don’t feel the need to share them with people we’re not planning to meet. We’re not going to accept random friends requests from unverified profiles with no pics or anyone that doesn’t fit what we’re looking for.

Because those who send random friends requests have no intention of meeting us they are just photo collectors who want to look at the private photos we have.

We consider our friends list to be exactly that friends, people we have met and got on with and so hope to meet again.

Ahhhh the above makes sense, thanks!

I just thought it was oddly aggressive on some profiles.

I won’t accept friend requests from people who don’t have any friend only pics regardless of whether we’re chatting. Know some find this rude, but guess we’re all entitled to our choices.

I don't have friends only pics but I wouldn't even let it bother me. Surely it's just easier to ignore the request then writing a status or thread about it?

People get annoyed over the strangest things

Why should they though?

I have private pics. I also have pics I’m happy to share with people I’ve met and played with (i.e friends). And then some happy to have public.

Folks shouldn’t have to make everything private so they can add a bunch of people too ill mannered to even chat.

I like to know who’s masturbating over pictures of me.

Chances are, if I’ve never spoke to you then I’m not accepting friend requests from you.

And by chances are, I mean I’m definitely not.

I don’t get stressed out about it; just block people that send unsolicited requests. I tend to have a peek at their pictures first though

We simply don't want anyone as friends that we don't physically know, mostly as it just clogs up the updates feed. We don't need to see a flood of dick pics and moaning status updates.

I do understand every point and perspective on this.

I just don't get the aggressive tone of some posters. Fab is a very odd place at times.

It seems some of lost perspective. This is supposed to be fun and good natured.

Tell that to the men who make it not fun.

People get negative when they are sick of abusive messages, people not reading their profile, being treated like sex meat, called names for turning someone down.

That's why some people get aggressive and shouty on their profiles.

It's a bit thing for me as I don't show my face publicly but I do in my friends section. I only add people I've meet before in person or got to know for a long while. As much as I would like to show my face publicly but due to work, I can't take that risk really

Try getting a shit tonne of abuse every day (and the other option is to shut down your messages and limit your use of the site, which is also not fun) and people who are just constantly rude. Then you might get it

Surely the question should be “Why send a friend request to someone you’ve never even spoken with?” rather than pushing the onus onto the people receiving the request to modify their behaviour.

It doesn’t bother me at all. I don’t check friend requests. If I’m chatting to someone, most of the time I’ll send one if I’m wanting to snoop
