So F1 fans, is this year going to be better? Who will win the world championships? With the brand new cars is anyone going to do a Brawn straight out of the box?

"Hopefully Mercedes can sort out the bouncing, Ferrari look dangerous this season. Can't wait. #TeamLewis "

I think Mercedes is going to be a good team competition this year. How will George do against Lewis?

They could sort out the bouncing or porpoiseing by allowing active suspension. But they banned that a good few years ago.

Ferrari looked really really in pre season testing….

I think it could be a shootout between them and red bull this weekend…

Ferrari do look good and have excellent drivers. It will be great to see the rest of the grid getting nearer the front. I would love to see McLaren back near there too.

No, not me sir!! . But porpoise is what the teams have describe it as. The car gets sucked down and when the airflow reduced it climbs up till it is sucked down again. Even on a dead smooth track - great fun at 180mph.

We love all Motorsports in our house. Mrs More and I went to Japan in 2008 to see the F1 there. She went to Monaco with her sister to see it the same year and we've been to Silverstone numerous times to see the FQ, Motogp and WEC.

But after last year's finale, regardless of who's your favourite driver, it was a bit of a shambles so can't really seem to get excited about it.

It will be interesting to see how handy GR63 is against LH44 though and it will be nice to see the McLaren boys do well.

That last 10 mins of the last race did a lot of damage. I hope in the future the new process will be clearer and better understood.

I understand your struggle. It is not a sport you an dip into occasionally. It is a big mix of tech, strategy, driving ability, weather conditions, pit crew, etc.

If there’s interest I’ll start one later on today and post the joining code here and in a new thread.

As I always stick by, testing means largely nothing.

Until they are in Q1 at the first race, the actual true pace is always masked.

I think someone will “do a Brawn” btw. Possibly McLaren purely because their car looks to be a more stable overall package. It will be an interesting season; I think there will be different teams strong at different points of the year, like in 2003.

Besides - I’m actually way more excited in watching the WEC and IMSA races at Sebring this weekend anyway. Endurance racing is where it’s really at and roll on the new LMDh cars for next year.

the fix for porpoising , we used to get it in wec, is easy to fix with aero tweeks or ride hight chaanges, but we didnt run such extreme aero as in f1,unless there is a fundimental flaw in the underbody aero, active was righty banned, the courner speeds were getting silly, never mind the cost, im amazed that so many teams are having such problems with it, it does go to show how much of a change the new rules are this year, and i for one welcome it, it may shake the order up a bit

No way that’s awesome.

I always wanted to work in motorsport. Ended up in aviation instead.

Who did you work for? If you don’t mind me asking? LMP2 team like JOTA or United?

I was lucky to be on the grid for the ELMS race at Silverstone in 2019. Chatting to the lads from Algarve Pro Racing whilst they did a few last bits of preparation on the ORECA they were running. Really friendly bunch. Top weekend overall as the weather was amazing and the campsite had free dodgems!!

We were there in 2019 too! Having done both, we much prefer a WEC weekend over a FEW weekend for value for money and entertainment.

Yes, the real sneaky thing is, despite being faster in 2021, they let Red Bull take pole position more than they did. That is so clever!

Max is faster then Hamilton on raw pace that's why Max got more poles, Perez was miles off even Bottas in the same car. Max is the closes driver I seen to Senna and Schumacher.

Hopefully the spread of pace between the top two teams and the last two will be reduced with the new regulations meaning that on certain days the lower teams may spring the odd surprise it would freshen the whole year up.
