I message first sometimes but not often especially at the moment as I am not actively looking for new meets or new chats.

But I've no issue with sending a first message the worst that can happen is it gets ignored plus I never check sent mail either.

The last first contact message I sent was in January 2020. Every conversation I've had in the last 2+ years has been initiated by others so it does happen.
