I’ve just seen from a lady’s pictures that she is blonde, and not dark-haired as I imagined her to be. Mind blown!

Have you ever had a set idea about someone, regarding their looks or personality, only to be proven wrong?

Keep it nice please

No one ever looks how you imagine them

A couple of years back I did a thread 'send me your face pics'

Bizarrely, people did

There are some truly good looking folk in this forum but, without exception, none of them looked how I imagined

For myself, I have face pic avatars up from time to time so no surprises here

It’s weird being the straight male half of a couple and trying to find single men. You see body pics and think that they might be what I think Mrs will like and then they’re the complete opposite.

It’s made even harder because she doesn’t like the traditionally attractive look.

Does this mean I’m weird looking?

Occasionally I’ve been proven wrong. Personality wise, most match or are how I expected them to be, which is not always how they come across on the forum.

The other group socials are mostly non forum users, so great to go in with no thoughts at all.

Yes, frequently. People look different facially but the most obvious one for me is the difference in how they sound. I read posts in certain voices, with different accents. Tend to be wrong most of the time, not always in a bad way either.

Is it to do with their name?

If a guy's name was Hugo Boss would it conjour up the image of smartly dressed, well groomed guy? If it was Shug the Gaffer would you have a different image if him.

Shug is a Scottish way of saying Hugh.

Haha I don't think that's rude. Women's voices vary in pitch a lot. If anything, scouse women are often quite high pitched so I'm used to being lower than others around me . Yeah it's a strange one. I've lived in many places so it's mostly fairly neutral but it entirely depends what I say and some words have a strong accent and catch people off guard .

So I tend to think of it as having a transatlantic twang (there's another term but it's not the nicest! And also not accurate) and a bit of a RP edge to it. Tone wise I imagine it's a kind of melodic raspy voice but I'm well aware that might be wrong.

A couple of years back I did a thread 'send me your face pics'

Bizarrely, people did

There are some truly good looking folk in this forum but, without exception, none of them looked how I imagined

For myself, I have face pic avatars up from time to time so no surprises here

U know I have to say, I imagined you differently than your face pic that I saw not long ago ha

I guess not a surprise much with me as my face is plastered all over "

I'm intrigued

I rarely make assumptions about people. There are people on my block list but for good reason as they have shown a side to them that I don’t like. On the flip side some people have shown a side that I did like.

We have to remember that we only see what someone is willing to show. People are more complex and in-depth than you will only ever see on fab

There are quite a few times I have been really pleasantly surprised how nice someone actually was

"I rarely make assumptions about people. There are people on my block list but for good reason as they have shown a side to them that I don’t like. On the flip side some people have shown a side that I did like.

We have to remember that we only see what someone is willing to show. People are more complex and in-depth than you will only ever see on fab "

It's interesting in view of yesterdays thread about being open. I am reasonably open (you may disagree) and I think I come across the same way in person. Daft and sometimes thoughtful.

"Yes, frequently. People look different facially but the most obvious one for me is the difference in how they sound. I read posts in certain voices, with different accents. Tend to be wrong most of the time, not always in a bad way either.

I remember you liking my accent when we met at the STP, you were how I thought you’d be… "

I liked your everything at the STP. But yes, your voice especially is something else. So perfect.

"Life has taught me to never make assumptions about how people without full length body picture will look.

Women have mastered the art of making themselves look very different with camera tricks and angles "

This is precisely why I do have full length body photos. I will not be accused of cat fishing.

Good for you. For some reason it feels like it’s completely acceptable to turn up to meets/dates 3-5 stone heavier than your pictures suggest

The weight isn’t the issue. It’s the deception

Yes but I also know that they is not to you than you show on here. You show certain aspects of your personality but not all which is understandable

This is why I clearly state on our profile that I am now fat. Some of my pics are from 2015 when I was slimmer but I like the pics so leave them up. We also have a recent pic which clearly shows I’m fat.

Just over there

I'm generally drawn to a nice smile framed by a dark or grey beard. However my brain automatically gives them hair! 9 times out of 10 they're bald or shaved and it completely throws me!

Meeting people at socials after chatting to them online, I'm always surprised by height! Even though height is listed I’ve found it rarely matches my preconceptions!

It's never really affected my initial feelings towards them just takes a little getting used to!

I'd love to know if people I've met found I was exactly as they perceived!

"I try not to form any preconceptions of people here, most of whom I’m unlikely to ever meet and will never really ‘know’ them. "

KêySøre™, I wouldn't mind meeting you my pedigree chum. We can compare

I am building up to posting my first full-length pic No filters, no work done, just little old me. I’m a bit nervous about it, as I’m not the most body-confident, but don’t wish to appear disingenuous. A couple of posters have already joked that I am bodiless from my boobs down!

I need to take one first

If you see it and like it, please let me know!
