I understand you can self certificate for up to 4 days. You don't have to give a reason to your employer but it's good to. 5 days or over and you MUST have a docs cert. Just get one from the doc..

You can for 7 days, after that you would need a doctors fit note x

I take it back. I just checked the site and it does say 7 days.

QUOTE

When you work out the number of days that you've been sick, you need to count all the days in a row you've been sick, including days you do not usually work, such as weekends and bank holidays.

In wales it’s the same as England - self certify for first 7 days then you need a fit note from GP. There’s a self cert on nhs wales (am assuming your in wales OP).

7 days (7 consecutive days) self cert (classed as sickness). anymore than 7 days you need a drs note.

In the west.

I'd also say 7 days. I think I read somewhere that you could self-cert for a month because of the pressure Covid was putting on the system.

I may be wrong though.

The rules reverted back to the normal 7 days at the end of January.

For self certi you can do that for 5-7 days and then any more days after that has to be signed off via doctors sick note. Hope this helps? Boo X

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes we all feel completely overwhelmed and recognising that in ourselves is an excellent start. Hope you’re feeling better soon and always here if you need to chat. L x

Self certify for 7 days and then get a doctor's note if you need too. Work stress is the most damaging thing to your mental health, take the time you need always.

Hope your okay OP

Work isn’t the initial cause of my stress but it certainly will add extra pressure to the other problems especially if my mind isn’t on the job. Xx
