The originals have collectors who will pay silly money for them now .... buy him a real bike out of the profits selling the chopper.

I befriended many guys who spoke about their chopper

disappointment after disappointment followed in every case.......

I had one when I was seven or eight. It was a bit too big for me at the time, and I vividly remember following my dad around the local park and then swerving to avoid him and ending up crashing into railings!!

That was my first proper bike and I managed to trash it on the first ride out

I had a bmx magnum as a kid, but the lad down the road had a chopper. The seat was all fixed up with gaffa tape, but it was an ace ride!

Think the mk1 (like mine) had a round gear knob like a cars, mk2 had the T-bar shaped gear handle.

I asked for a Chopper for Christmas in 1975 and got a Raleigh Shopper instead - bloody girl's bike, had to wait till my brother was old enough for a chopper and then beat him up for it

I had a red one till someone nicked it. I loved that bike but I'm not sure if kids today would appreciate it like we did when all their mates will have the newer types. Still, if he doesn't like it you can ride again lol
