"It's a long time since I visited any English city. Because of that I will keep it local: Glasgow for shopping and cocktails Edinburgh because of the culture and it's the world's capital city Inverness because it is small, compact and pretty laid back" Inverness was shut at 5pm last time I went

I’ve not been to lots of others, but would love to visit new places " Have to agree, it's a very welcoming and friendly place, have many good memories of going up to visit family at half term when I was young. Need to plan a visit as it's been too long

Can't say I've been but its a bit far from mountains though I like your thinking. St Davids is probably my favourite of all the cities I've visited and a whole lot smaller even than Wells. Mr" I had forgotten St Davids when I proffered Wells as the smallest city which came into my mind. Ironically, I have never been to Wells but have been to St Davids several times. Usually I have camped nearby enduring horizontal rain but sometimes the area can be paradise. As you might gather from my 'cess pit' comment, I am not a love of cities in general. Two I have liked were Vancouver and Auckland, both I found very civilised places to visit and could happily live in either. Fleetingly visited Chester and Durham without disappointment or parking drama. Edinburgh, so-so, also easy to get into by bus (star attraction for me RY Britannia) from a good campsite. Also liked Glasgow for the motorway which goes right through the place without having to stop there! However St Davids I could drive to and park with no problems whatsoever. Good choice.

"London for me " I used to love London and all the wonderful stuff you can do, restaurants, theatres etc but I think a lot has changed and I would only contemplate the odd visit these days, not that I could really afford to live there now - certainly not in any area I would like to.
