I’d be a terrible Geordie if I didn’t say Newcastle. Great restaurants, nightlife and shops. Plenty of history, great museums and art galleries and it’s only a short journey to the amazing beaches and the Northumberland coastline.

York is great. I used to go there most Saturday nights for the live music scene. I really should make the effort more.

But I also love Bath, Cardiff, Newcastle, Birmingham, Edinburgh

Manchester!!

It’s got everything you want and need.

I also like to visit Edinburgh and York. Great nights out, plus a lot of history.

Honourable mention to Newcastle for a BOUNCING night out but not been in ages.

Sheffield is a nice friendly city too.

Belgrade is very interesting, Novi Sad is great.

San Sebastián is even better than you think it’s going to be before you get there.

Can't say I've been but its a bit far from mountains though I like your thinking.

St Davids is probably my favourite of all the cities I've visited and a whole lot smaller even than Wells.

I had forgotten St Davids when I proffered Wells as the smallest city which came into my mind.

Ironically, I have never been to Wells but have been to St Davids several times. Usually I have camped nearby enduring horizontal rain but sometimes the area can be paradise.

As you might gather from my 'cess pit' comment, I am not a love of cities in general. Two I have liked were Vancouver and Auckland, both I found very civilised places to visit and could happily live in either.

Fleetingly visited Chester and Durham without disappointment or parking drama.

Edinburgh, so-so, also easy to get into by bus (star attraction for me RY Britannia) from a good campsite. Also liked Glasgow for the motorway which goes right through the place without having to stop there!

However St Davids I could drive to and park with no problems whatsoever. Good choice.

I had a couple of lovely visits there. Some of the new restaurants and pubs/bars are great. Lots to enjoy and also other interesting places to visit that are a short drive away.

I'm obviously biased, but I adore London. If you want a city with absolutely everything, it's hard to beat.

But we're lucky to have so many great cities: also love Edinburgh, Bristol, York and Manchester. Never been to Liverpool or Newcastle so they're high on my list!

Hmmmm I’d say my favourites are Newcastle. London and Manchester. All for different reasons. Newcastle because its just fun and the people are so cool. Manchester has the best pussy. London is best for things to do.
