…understand why people send friend requests when they’ve never made an effort to talk to you first? You don’t randomly go up to people in the freezer section of Tesco (other supermarkets are available) and request them to be friends with you…

Do you?

Maybe they send them to replace the winks you claim to ignore?

They may be too anxious to send the first message so this is a wink replacement to show interest.

I just assume it’s because they think that’s what you do, before even messaging. If you accept, they feel they can then message? I don’t think there’s any written rules. Same as on other social media, it’s a way of making contact for whatever reason.

Personally I don’t send or accept them without a discussion first but that’s just my way of doing it. Nothing to say its right or wrong.

We agree and accept no such requests and block them instantly. If they are that poorly skilled at human interaction then they aren't for us. Mind you, I have had this done to me a couple of times in public and it is quite creepy and it is only my personality that has protected me. I did try it once at a house party and the other was really freaked out until mutual friends explained I was doing it to test if it was weird or just me. x

I've pulled at Tesco, Lidl and Morrisons.

I think it must be my smiling nature and the fact that I obviously don't have a wife or kids to bequeath my shopping bags and debit card to. They can tell that from what I buy.

One might suspect they have an eye to the future when initiating a supermarket friends request!

Yeah I think this is the case, it's definitely a Facebook type thing, you get a friend request off someone, see if they have any mutual friends or interesting pics, then decide if you wanna add them, I'd never throw a hissy fit for getting a friend request on either platform, but then again, I'm a bloke.

"…understand why people send friend requests when they’ve never made an effort to talk to you first? You don’t randomly go up to people in the freezer section of Tesco (other supermarkets are available) and request them to be friends with you…

Do you? "

I find it's far more successful in Waitrose. Must be something about the clientele...

Oooh you naughty devil

Serves them right for sending requests unsolicited

Do you deliberately fab a friend only pic so they know?

Oooh like a calling card good idea! You're not offline yet so I can't try it "

nowhere

It’s worse when they add you as a friend without talking and even when given the benefit of the doubt.... they don’t reply to a message but still watch new vids and pics.... what’s up with that?

Yeah that’s just plain rude of them. Better go find friends in Sainsburys instead

Actually this thread has got me thinking about why I send out random friend requests. I don't know why men do it to you if you have no pics though. I think I'm hoping that I'll see a face pic. Then if there is one and I don't fancy them, I can just slink off and I don't have to awkwardly yet and disentangle myself from a conservation.

I just ignore them it doesn’t bother me but there are plenty of people it does annoy. You’d think that, as you can with with fabs, the site could offer the choice to turn off the option for your profile to receive friend requests and winks too.

There’s quite a few options that are missing from fab like that but these things take time for someone to write the code then test it and release it and I don’t know if they have anyone doing development work like that. I can’t imagine it’d be cheap to get someone to do it.

"Because they are nosey & just want to have a perv

I posted the same last week & actually removed all my friends only photos, popping them in private seemed to stop all the friend requests

Haha I don’t have any friends pictures or it would make sense to get requests. "

I hid all mine thinking it would stop them... But no!

If they have no friends only photos then they get ignored, if I like what I've seen already then I will accept because I like to perv but only if they have friends only photos. Can't say I'd ever send a request to someone I haven't spoken to though and I usually ask first
