The majority of men get paid more at my place than women for my grade

In the west.

I'm lucky. We have pay scales set nationally. Rates of pay are set by length of service and one final qualification.

If you have the final qualification the maximum time period is 5 years until you are at the top of the scale.

We have total reward negotiated privately , no one knows or is allowed to discuss salary bonus etc. When I do appraisals people are either rewarded extremely well or lose all bonus and put on warnings, there’s no middle , you’re staying and giving all or being fired soon

Minimum wage all round. Harder you work the more hours you get, so the reward for working hard is more hard work.

If you work REALLY hard you can pay your bills every month.
