St Albans

Lampshades & talcum powder, two illogical inventions.

The light bulb is invented & then we put a shade on it that reduces the light.

People wash the dirt off their bodies in a shower or bath, dry themselves & then sprinkle finely ground rock dust over their clean bodies.

Bottle of the stuff in my race bag, for ease of getting wet feet into bike/run shoes. Wouldn’t touch the stuff in the house

Was there a link between talc and cancer? I’m sure I remember reading something about that, but could be wrong.

"Was there a link between talc and cancer? I’m sure I remember reading something about that, but could be wrong."

Ovarian cancer. Though studies have mostly found no link. There were some issues in the past with Johnson & Johnson where their talc was found to be contaminated with asbestos. That's probably more likely to have been the cause than the talc itself.

It is great for at the beach to dry feet/hands so the sand just brushes off.

Talc?

I've not really used it since 15+ years when I was advised against using it when my children were born.

Except for a bout of chub rub :P

I caught an old man in a changing room put it all over his undercarriage only last week! It stunk like… old people. Bless him and his chaffing taint.

I don't think we've ever had talc in our house since we've been together, so that's a lot of years! We've never ever thought of a need for it.

Docklands, Exmoor, Manchester

I use it whenever there is an ant incursion into the house.

A layer of it by the entry point brings matters to a crashing halt.

I keep it in my beach bag so when I get out my wetsuit or bikini I can shoehorn myself back into clothes more easily. I don’t when I’m at home. I just sit my my towel for 45 minutes scrolling tiktok then moisturise
