In the west.

I could quite happily live in Edinburgh, apart from the month of August. I love the festival but all those bloody tourists and daytrippers.

Rural countryside away from people.

No explanation needed.

"And why those places i should of also asked "

For me it is the architecture, history, culture and the vibe of the city.

Oh and it's a tad drier than the west coast.

We worked over in Walsall not so long ago, some of the surrounding areas are lovely, and very central - so that would be a consideration. K

I love where I love now.

Once the kids have left home we would probably move out of the city and get a small holding (I'm a farmers daughter!)

We have the beach a few mins away, the south downs a few mins the other way. Just wish I lived in tbe house opposite though. Much nicer than ours!

Probably York. Or Boston Spa. I love York's history and architecture. Boston Spa is one of the nicest villages I've ever stayed in, just a very photogenic place with lots to do.

GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please)

I love where I live on the southern end of Snowdonia, but as a second choice, Grasmere in the Lake District would be good, or perhaps rural Yorkshire.

Has to be countryside anyway.

"Edinburgh "

Don’t come to Edinburgh it’s a total mess, craters in the roads, cycle lanes for non existent cyclists, crazy council ideas, LEZ, (low emissions zone) which means if your car is old enough you’re not allowed to come into the centre of Edinbollard. Your car maybe roadworthy, but the roads aren’t fit to be driven on

I was up north just at the start of the winter. The roads after Fort William were fantastic. Not a pothole in sight.

How awful of the council to look to improve the quality of the air for the majority of inhabitants who are non-car owners or who use public transport to get into the city centre. Pure madness, I tell you.

To be clear, I own a couple of cars which would fall foul of the regulations (and a couple which do not), but I get that my wants and desires sometimes need to cede to the interests of the majority.

It's a city I know and love well, but it hasn't been a city which is driver friendly for quite some time, particularly during the festival.

I would agree however that the council for many years has prioritised the commercial interests of the festival and the Christmas/Hogmanay events over the needs of residents and tax payers.
