Would I still owe someone £50 if I have paid for majority of things in their house or paid for their shopping, should that perso still be able to turn round to me when I paid for their shopping and say "that's for the money I owe them", I make it sound Complicated but I'm the payee and calculating the price of everything I have spent money on, why would I still owe them £50

Would it have made things simpler if you gave them the £50 back rather than pay for their shopping ?

Did you borrow it from them and they want it back in cold hard cash rather than shopping?

Was it agreed that by you buying the other stuff you wouldn’t have to repay them?
