Yes, I was seven and had the sneezes, she told me I sounded like a fairy, and that was because every time I sneezed a fairy died. Left me in tears! I had hay fever, and for a while I was convinced I was to blame for the death of many fairies.

Obviously, I now know it’s not true…it’s hiccuping that does it!

Yes. He told me there was no point studying for the credit paper as I’d never manage it.

I spent two years working my arse off to prove him wrong and the best standard grade mark you can get.

On results day I made a comment and he chuckled and said it would have been a failure on his part if I’d got anything less. He pointed out that I did all my own work, studied independently and turned in top work so I should always remember that if I want something then I can do it and I should never let anyone tell me that I can’t.

Bloody played me for two years I’ve always remembered the faith he had in me though.

Another one told me that black ink smudges less than blue so I’ve always been used black pens. No idea if that’s true or not.

I had to give up my A levels for personal reasons, the head of the college said that I probably wouldn’t have passed my English anyway- even though I scored higher on my mock exams than the predicted results for students at our level…went on to get my English Degree. I was accepted on the degree course, based on submitted examples of my work, not on A level results. Can’t tell you how good that made me feel.

I was going through an horrendous time, dealing with things no 16/17 year old should have to, and his response made me doubt myself so much. It took someone on an adult education course to see my potential, and submit my work to a uni professor, to convince me he was wrong. I will always be grateful to them x

Yes. When I was 9 i was told I'd make a better door than window. Given I was already in the grip of an eating disorder then it really didn't help, because 9 year old me and my classmates took that to mean I was fat.

They say there is always one teacher that has influenced you that you’ll never forget. Well, for me it was him.

We had a mutual loathing, but he taught me think for myself, look at both sides of the story and be able to argue for both. He taught me to have confidence in my own intellect and opinions even when others were disparaging, but still be able to respect the opinions of those who disagreed. Lessons that have served me well through my life

I was told by my French teacher that I would never be good at French and that I was useless....

I told him when we were all joined to Europe in a few years that English would be the No.1 language at the time. Even the "Chinese" were keen on speaking English!

So, I told him it would rather render his job useless cos no one would be interested in speaking French!!!

Not being Xenophobic - don't need to go to France. Nor do I want to. There isn't anything there that I'm interested in.

I was told to get out the room. LOL.

I have 4 cousins who speak it fluently & 1 aunt who did. Not really stuck for translators was I?

Any way, you can take translation books with you & point at sentences. Ai's are getting better with the translation apps. Trust me you can get by if you have to....

I had what is know now as dyslexia these days, but back in the 1970's it was known as being stupid or a bit slow, if the teachers were kind about it.

Always remember one teacher telling me I'd get nowhere in life, I would have trouble holding down any job.

But it made me more determined to say fuck em n worked my balls off to prove them wrong.

Now at the age of 56, I have amount other things had a few different business over the years n have a few rental properties n a few other investments I live off n retired 4 years ago, plus I have managed to buy my kids a house aswell.

The school is still there, but all the teachers have moved on or died, so never got the chance to let them know I wasn't a fuck up.

In the long term they did give me the boost I needed to prove everyone wrong, so turned out well for me.

I have a similar situation. English composition teacher in high school told me I will never amount to anything. That stuck in the back of my mind ever since. I think 2 bachelors degrees and a masters with a very respectable job in a highly competitive field would prove them otherwise.

I have the greatest respect and admiration for teachers in general. Most do an amazing job under the most difficult circumstances. There will always be the odd one that doesn't but in my opinion it's a very rewarding job but also one of most difficult to do with little respect and appreciation these days not just from kids but form parents too who often think that their child is never in the wring. Just my opinion, I could not do it. And yes, I remember lots of stuff I was taught that shaped me and rather thankful for that.

When i was 12 a teacher woudnt let a boy in my class go to the toilet,he did a wee in the classroom.the class laughed but i did not. That horrible teacher noticed and said.did you not like that Denise? I didnt and reported him to the head teacher.

My form tutor would tell us little tales to fill gaps. He once told us the time he found a polystyrene dildo on a stand in his jacket pocket at a dinner party. It was the type used to demonstrate how to put on condoms and he had put it in his pocket after a sex education class and forgot about it. I went to a church school and the crowd at the dinner party were all middle class, Christian types. When no one was looking he calmly placed it in the centre of the dinner table. He spent the rest of the night watching the guests all looking at it and ignoring it. They were all too prudish and embarrassed to acknowledge, so everyone there just ignored its existence. He said it was fun seeing how uncomfortable it made everyone.

The guy was a great teacher, loved a joke (as long as you could take it when it come back your way) and was very well respected. Sadly he's not with us these day.

My misogynistic male A level physics teacher started with 12 girls in the class. First lesson he told us girls don't pass physics as their brains can't cope.

Only 2 of us completed the course the others slowly dropped out due to his comments.

We both passed with good grades.
