Shackleton's ship, The Endurance, has at last been located at the bottom of the Weddell sea.

One of the most courageous explorer's the world has ever known.

I'm no history buff but I wonder if there'll be any attempt to resurface it. It looks in pretty good shape

It's the coldness of the water that's kept it in that condition

I wondered that when I saw the piece about it this morning. I hope they don't, the sinking is the history.

It looks absolutely remarkable considering the length of time it has been down there.

They have a piece of the "Endurance" in the archives of the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge. Occasionally it's on show.

I was there once, when it was. I touched it. I wasn't supposed to but it was there, within reach...I couldn't help myself.

I have a special affinity for the "Endurance" story.

North Norfolk area

As they had to use an icebreaker to get to the location, and the wreck is 10,000 feet down, I suspect they won't be trying to bring it up!

Correct. Nothing can be touched or removed by law

It’s such a remarkable story and the navigation by worsley was mind blowingly accurate.

This story definitely cheered me up this morning, what with all the other talk of war!

Am I correct in thinking that none of the crew actually went down with it? I think the majority perished on the surface?

And by pure coincidence it was found 100 years to the day of Shackleton's funeral

Every member of the crew survived the sinking and also the epic journey to safety.
