Burgess Hill & Birmingham

Why not do both?

Some might not enjoy the idea of running or cross trainer so swimming would be a good option instead.

You can do it with either so I'd just go with what you enjoy more as you're more likely to enjoy it. You could do both. Personally I prefer the gym.

Weights are going to be significantly better than swimming

I’ve done the gym for years on and off. With joggling family life I need one or the other. Probably going to give swimming ago

It’s a fantastic all over full body workout and burns a lot of calories too!

I hope you enjoy giving it a go

If you want to get in shape lift weights and watch your diet. Do cardio if you want but I don’t really do much cardio these days the odd run that’s it. That said I have entered the great south run in oct haha

If I go to a swimming pool in bombing!

Which one do you enjoy that is the key as you are more likely to keep it up and is the key to successful training.

1. You can't out-train a bad diet - fix that first.

2. For body recomp look at a 3-2 strength to cardio split

Cheshire, Windermere ,Cumbria

I’d go with swimming, it’s a full body workout, should strengthen and tone along with cardio but probably best you pick which you enjoy the most

Both, frankly for tone, swim and rowing does the lot.

As triathletes we'd definitely give a massive shout out for swimming. Since taking up the sport swimming has really helped to tone our physiques

Front crawl is fantastic for developing upper body tone, have to go at a high intensity to get anything out of it. I find the gym/weights and running better for all round fitness.

both are good and both get a bit boring!

swimming gets a bit annoying if pool is busy and lane rage.. so if quite swim if busy gym, if heaving... run!

I started the gym 2 months ago and glad I did,I recommend the rowing machine that's a full body workout even better than the treadmill

I think when it comes to exercise the key is to do what you enjoy.

Swimming is low impact and strengthens your body. Cons being that the chlorine can damage your hair over time. If you do steady state workouts the calorie burn is predictable and it is stated to improve lung capacity.

The gym encompasses many activities but I'll assume you meant purely weightlifting, compound exercises like squats and deadlifts mixed in with kettlebell swings and box jumps will scorch the fat from your frame aswell as improving your athletic abilities.

They are both great for health in different ways. One more cardio than the other. I like both
