"I remember during mad cow disease when dozens of guys were charging around the countryside shooting cattle and burning and burying them in huge numbers. The RSPCA were busy prosecuting a man in Brighton for over feeding his dog so had no comment. I stopped my donations then. " Disgusting isn't it I reported a puppy farm operating near me and they weren't interested. You could hear the Puppies crying constantly...Owners not seen for days. We managed to get the police round (not saying how) but their body cam footage showed our concerns. They were going to submit what they found but the officer said "what they'll do is anyone's guess" Atrocious organisation

"Years ago I donated to the RSPCA but was harassed by them with loads of letters through the door. Are they still like that? Was the old days via cheque through the post " They advertise in Scotland to get donations from Scottish folk, but they don’t operate in Scotland they are a despicable organisation, I’ve known of cases, that have ended up in court because they put healthy animals down, one dog a 10 yr old healthy black lab, was euthanised as his owner had died, owners son lived at other end of the country, and had asked the RSPCA to Rehome the dog, and left them a huge sum of money to go towards the dogs care with them, the son arrived just two days later to reclaim the dog but he was already dead, they had claimed their vets had said he was riddled with cancer, the son got a report which was just a month old from his usual vet, which said he was healthy, son took them to court and won, they (RSPCA) had to give him back the money his father gave to them for the dogs keep, and also compensation. In another case they were left a small sanctuary with animals. Because there was no stipulation that they could not sell the sanctuary, they euthanised all the animals and sold the land. Why in the name of god would a so called animal rescue organisation do that to healthy animals? In Scotland we have the SSPCA, they have their issues too, but they are IMHO far better than their English counterparts If you’re going to donate to an animal rescue find a smaller local one who need the funds and will put them to better use.

"No they don't pester any more. I donate to dogs trust sponsoring a couple of dogs " Dogs trust is one of the charities that has had my support for quite a few years now. I never had any excessive pestering apart from the occasional letter and magazine and actually I don't mind that. I also support a local shelter who are amazing and I can also visit any time I want.

I wouldn’t even touch them with a barge pole.

"Stopped my donation when they wouldn't help with cats abandoned at work. Cats protection helped , now give £20 to them a month. Still feed 6 at work and 5 at home " We had a client who had mature cats but she wanted to rehome them as she could no longer cope. RSPCA did not want to know as they were mature cats (albeit still healthy and had a good few years left in them). That was it for me.

" Unfortunately that’s normal for the bigger organisations, the older the animal the less likely it will be rehomed. A wee lovely yorkie up here whose owner went into hospital because of a stroke couldn’t look after him anymore, the local council rescue refused to take on account of his age (14) he’s now in a lovely home near Bury after having his pic & details on a overseas rescue but they also help animals in need here too.

Don’t get me started on PETA, they had videos on YouTube visiting chimps in research facilities, who were in individual cages because they were infected with HIV, but they sweet fuck all to rescue them, just left them there.
