Who else is surprised over the news that he is now selling chelsea? I am and what kind of alternative motives could it be? Could one reason be as he is seeing how heavy sanctions russia is getting? So thinking to himself. I better sell it now so I get some money from it.

I think it’s pretty poor he’s being forced to sell but it goes much deeper. Is it his fault Putins doing what he is doing? Nope

Look at all the Russian sportsmen and women being kicked out of their sports because they are Russian and their nations leader is doing what he’s doing.

When Russians speak out against his regime they go missing, people are poisoned etc. Why are they expected to find bravery now when their leaders are at their most aggressive?

How long before Russians are abused in the streets..

It shows how much financial doping occurs at the top level, and how my lower league team will NEVER get the chance to compete, when he will write off a loan of £1.5 BILLION that he’s given Chelsea. How can those down the ladder ever hope to have anything near a level playing field when sums like that are involved?

I agree that McGregor may not be able to afford it. How much interest has been shown though?

Also BoyofWonder is correct with how Russians have to deal with Putin and his crew. We have 2 incidents in this country to what lengths Putin will go to. I assume the sanction plan is meant to force the Russian people to "clean up their own mess"

He knows he’s massively tainted by his association. He can deny his links til he’s blue in the face, but Putin is godfather to one of his daughters…

He knows sanctions are going to be hard on anyone who made their money with Putin’s help, and he’s trying to make himself look decent.

He’s not faced any sanctions, he’s not asking for his loans back, and all proceeds (likely hundreds of millions) are going to a proper Charity for victims of the war (he’s using the word War, no-one in Russia is allowed to), I don’t see how we can criticise him just yet, chances are he is donating more money than most governments will to help Ukrainians

The year they were bought they finished bottom of the championship. They got invested in. This is how smaller clubs find success, show promise , get invested in. And they haven’t spent anything like what Chelsea did. So yeah, still go ask them

And how do smaller lower league clubs ‘show promise’ .. Leicester got lucky or maybe unlucky being an ex-Premier League side that had underperformed.

Perhaps the pathway to success for lower league sides is to be failed ex Premier League sides? Sunderland for example are a good candidate for investment.

The question I would ask is why he is being allowed to sell Chelsea. His assets in the UK should be at least frozen as part of sanctions against overt Putin supporters - which despite his claims he undoubtedly is - and encouragement for them to put pressure on Putin to moderate his aggression.

But of course we have a government who were bought by Putin supporters, happy to bluster while imposing sanctions that are weak and watery, with notice given so that they can sell off before assets are frozen.

An asset freeze wouldn't be good for Chelsea's employees, but let's turn it round and ask why millions of innocent Russians should suffer from sanctions for something that is not their fault.

And I'm sorry, but the interests of any football club's supporters are neither here nor there; a game of football really isn't a matter of life and death.

I believe the real reasons that have been discussed in parliament recently is that Abramovich funded Putin's election campaign and he is a very very close friend/supporter of his regime.

Firstly I have not commented on any of the posts in the last week because as a season ticket holder at Chelsea my comments could be seen as biased.

I was called a terrorist cunt yesterday evening at Kenilworth Road as I cheered on my team.

Having first hand experience of living with someone who has beecaught up in a terrorist attack I can assure you I am not. I would like to think I am not a cunt either but that is probably more subjective.

So Chelsea,even more so now than ever before, is the poisoned chalice of the FA. What choice does the man have?

Sanctions and stripping of assets would make any sale a moot point. And with due diligence taking time none of this will happen anytime soon.

So I will go to Burnley on Saturday and no doubt be called something else and I will have to ignore it because there was a Chelsea before Abramovich and there will be a Chelsea after he has gone.

There will maybe just not be all the philanthropic acts that there once was.
