Camberley occasionally doncaster

22 years and I'm done. As of midnight I'm officially a "Mr".

Uniform handed back (it's weird having cupboard space) and my big security blanket has gone. Stepping into the real world again.

On the plus side I can start screaming my age at people and telling them I'm a pensioner from next month.

A little nervous if I'm honest.. its a long career to leave.

I get it can be daunting having been all you’ve known, been there but once you find your feet that’s it!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time away. But I've spent 5 of my last 7 birthdays in various deserts.

Yes. I keep finding myself starting to speak then thinking "nope... I can't say that here, I can actually get fired now"

Unfortunately what I would consider "banter" in most workplaces is called "systemic bullying"

It was a big shock that I'm not allowed to set fire to people anymore.

Most of the ex military guy's round here never really leave,they get jobs working with old colleagues in places that predominantly employ ex military, yearly reunions,army Vs navy rugby matches and so on.

Yes, I have joined an industry where there are many ex forces. Never been one for reunions though

Cheers Dave, much appreciated. At the mo I have had it easy. I walked into a new job with an almost 10k pay rise and I still get my full pension on top of that.

I'm lucky this was my choice. Hope you are back on your feet now.

I've known similar. 2 brothers, both Harrier pilots. One git the red arrows. The other didn't. Not much animosity.

When they got out one brother got BA. The other got some Chinese cargo airway...
